WashPo claims: Palin Links Iraq to Sept. 11 In Talk to Troops in Alaska
The Washington Post ^ | September 12, 2008 | Anne E. Kornblut

FORT WAINWRIGHT, Alaska, Sept. 11 -- Gov. Sarah Palin linked the war in Iraq with the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, telling an Iraq-bound brigade of soldiers that included her son that they would "defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans."

The idea that the Iraqi government under Saddam Hussein helped al-Qaeda plan the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, a view once promoted by Bush administration officials, has since been rejected even by the president himself. But it is widely agreed that militants allied with al-Qaeda have taken root in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion.

"America can never go back to that false sense of security that came before September 11, 2001," she said at the deployment ceremony, which drew hundreds of military families who walked from their homes on the sprawling post to the airstrip where the service was held.

Can they get more desparate? Do they not realize that radical Jihadists still intend on attacking America?

This is about as far a stretch I have seen yet in the Desparate leftist media.

It would seem that the Washington Post thinks we are still fighting the Iraqi government under Saddam Hussein.

Draining the swamp of terror.

Oil wealth+extreme organizations+terror=9/11

Stop Iraq and establish US footprint on ME:

No more extreme organizations+terror=most countries coming over to US; i.e. Iraq, Libya, SA, N African countries, nearly everybody else except Iran. etc.

Simple

Why can’t LIBERAL IDIOTS understand this simple math???!!!

I guess there has been no al-Qaeda in Iraq. /s

The MSM is beyond contempt. Every time they hit a new low, I think "boy, they can't get any worse than this, and yet they do."

They think people have already stopped reading their newspapers and watching their tv broadcasts? They ain't seen nothing yet.

As I posted earlier today, the left never recognized that Bush managed to fight Al Queda on the battlefield chosen BY US! The left is so used to fighting wars using the rules of our opponents.

For example, President Johnson took a lot of grief for having the temerity to actually bomb North Vietnam. Of course, he wouldn't be allowed to invade. That whole war was fought on the terms dictated by the left. That is what really infuriates the Democrats about Bush. He ignores their "rules of engagement".

Ummmm... AlQaeda is in Iraq now. Her son is in Iraq Within a couple of days. Ergo her remarks. AlQaeda caused 9-11, inspite of what the “Global Test” poll may say. I am kinda confused as to how they are making the association based on what she said (even if it may be true). It seems that the MSM, toadies and sycophants for Obamessiah, are relying on the dimbulbs of the electorate believing what MSM says, and the assumptions they make, to put the Holyman over the top.

If there were no September 11 attacks, we would not be at war with Iraq. The "people" she is referring to are Islamo-Fascist Terrorists, not specifically the Iraqi government of Saddam Hussein.

After the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, America invaded North Africa. EVEN THOUGH there was "no link" between Yamamoto and Tunisia.

..."defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans."

This is all sliced and diced so I'll have to see the whole speech but "the innocent" presumably denotes not just Americans but Iraqis that have since been victim of al Qaeda.

But it is widely agreed that militants allied with al-Qaeda have taken root in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion.

Note that Charlie Gibson asked about the Bush Doctrine last night and yet this canard that we attacked Iraq because they were directly involved in Sept. 11 again rears its dishonest head. The WaPo is simply trying to imply while ignoring context or intent and if I know anything about the McCain/Palin campaign by now it is that in an event like this they went over with a finetooth comb what would be said but at the same time knew that the Democrat Media would latch on to certain phrases and expose themselves again.

They desire to promote outright lies ow to help Obama.

They should stick to lipstick on pigs. But, in this case the pig is the Washington Post and the lipstick calling them media.

Not true. Congress voted to authorize war with Iraq before 9/11. Iraq was basicly on probation from it's little Kuwait episode and was violating all sorts of inspection rules. We were getting close to having to do something with Hussein.

Exactly. Iraq is an ally in our war against terrorists. New headline....WaPo claims there are no terrorists in Iraq.

The poor poor Washington Post. Hussein was removed, tens of thousands of terrorists have been killed, little girls are able to go to school, there’s more electricity, water systems are being set up all over, and Iraq is on the right track. What a terrible nightmare from hell that must be for the Post staff. Still, perhaps they can glean something good out of the war effort if only they can take down at least one Conservative somehow connected to the war topic.

You almost feel sorry for them. Then again, it’s hard to feel sorry for folks who hate this nation with the passion the WP staff does.

I guess it’s easier to take down Conservatives than come up with some sensible supportable candidates of your own.

I can’t find the link, but I recall reading an article about Saddam’s newspaper (state ran) bragging about the impending destruction of the WTC. The piece ran prior to 9/11. As I recall, a congressman entered that into the Congressional record.

It’s like ‘The Invasion of the Body Snatchers’ with pod people, the MSM, screaming in the streets. They’ll get worse as Obama continues to tank. Two more months of this and then the meltdown when he loses despite massive fraud. Election night should be well worth the wait.

Why dont they say who linked Iraq to 9/11...it is always unnamed sources....

I thought we went to Iraq to confront the Axis of Evil...the war on ALL terror.....and if you recall, Saddam Hussein was paying bounties to suicide bombers families for all that destruction in Israel. (and that stopped)
