Obama Accuses McCain of Dishonesty in New Ad
CBS ^ | 9-15-08 | Maria Gavrilovic

(CHICAGO) Barack Obama is taking the gloves off today and going after John McCain in a new ad called "Honor." The ad uses McCain’s own ads to argue that he is running a dishonest campaign.

“Honor” begins by quoting McCain, "I will not take the low road to the highest office in this land," but the narrator quickly chimes in, "What happened to John McCain?” After quoting a slew of newspaper editorials that call McCain’s ads, sleazy, dishonest, and deceiving, the narrator says, "It seems 'deception' is all he's got left."

Simple tactic - convince people everything a guy says is a lie and it makes it difficult for folks to believe his promises for what he’ll do when in office.

Simple rebuttal: show how Obama has lied or hidden facts.

quoting a slew of newspaper editorials that call McCain’s ads, sleazy....

Newspaper editorials, a fair and honest source? Barry doesn't counter the facts he refers to the opinions of cronies.

The media is getting a black eye with all the Palin attacks so their credibility is deflating. I believe McCain will counter this attack well.

Smart move on Barry's part. He definitely wants to make the case that he's more experienced, honorable and has a better temperament than McCain.

I can't believe how undisciplined this campaign is. Now he's throwing HIMSELF under the bus.

This is actually far too vicious an ad. It does what it accuses McCain of doing. This continues to make Obama look small, like his only claim to the White House is that he hates President Bush and John McCain.

Ad is devoid of facts. It only gives newspaper quotes. People watching this ad are going to ask, “How is he being sleazy? What has he done?” The answer is, “Nothing.” A liberal defines sleazy as anything that doesn’t agree with orthodox left-wing politics.

Obama’s ad is even worse than Dukakis’. At least dukakis tried to get his message in there.

It’s hilarious to see Obama swiftboating himself. His entire campaign was on a vague platform of hope and change and now he’s proving himself to be a typical politician. HILARIOUS.

That has been their mantra since Palin got herself the VP...I’m praying real hard that SOMEHOW mCpal can somehow rebuke both the medipresstitutes and ZERO! They have less than 60days to repeat the lie....McPal are liars...I have a feeling eventually some of that will stick. If they can shave 1pt or 2, ZERO has a better chance of gaining traction . It’s been a tsunami of crap from the mediaPUKES, ZERO and his cronies. I wonder if we have the fire in our bellies to fight Goliath without side falling apart...:(

Uh—after using the war and our troops as a campaign tool, this slimeball has a lot of nerve referring to McCain as dishonorable.

They always seem to be crying like stuck pigs!!!

They use all biased MSM quotes and I wonder why Obama doesn’t say at the end that he approves of this ad?

The ads showing what a sleazebag Obama is will be coming out in October. Obama is hitting too early with this ad, which accuses McCain of sleaze but gives no facts to back it up.

I think McCain should put something like this in his stump speech: "What is Barack Obama's biggest claim to the White House? That he thinks the Republican ads are too mean, and a lot of his friends in the media do too?"
