Why It Is Hard to Enjoy Eating in China These Days

Really, it would be better to simply avoid eating anything in China at all. If more than 20 companies have been caught using melamine in their products, it is highly likely that hundreds if not thousands of other food producers in China are guilty of similar violations; San Lu just happens to be one of the unlucky companies that was found out. These days, I have much more to worry about than just the air that I am breathing in China. Every time I put food in my mouth I soberly realize that I may very well be ingesting chemicals and substances that are very harmful to my body. Nevertheless, I have to eat so all I can do is pray that my body is not being slowly poisoned.

Its a shame. Chinese cuisine is one of the marvels of the world!

Something must be okay to eat in china.

For foods that supply protein, just stick with fresh whenever you can. Melamine is added to indicate higher protien content, so things that are not generally eaten for their protein value will be unlikely so treated.

The other thing that's not too appetizing in Chinese restaurants is when you cut into your entre it bites you.

While dining you look at the next table and watch a waiter disembowel a rat or skin a snake.
