It looks like Sarah Palin wasnt the only target of an online hacker. Law enforcement officials are investigating claims that the private e-mail accounts of the Republican vice presidential candidates family and staff were also compromised.
Yesterday, the Department received a referral alleging that the personal e-mail accounts of Gov. Sarah Palin, her staff, and her family had been unlawfully hacked. The Department is reviewing the matter, Justice Department spokeswoman Laura Sweeney said on Thursday.
The FBI and Secret Service launched a formal investigation on Wednesday into the hacking of one of Palins Yahoo! e-mail accounts. Yahoo! declined to comment Thursday on details of the investigation, citing Palins privacy and the sensitivity of such investigations.

sounds bigger than one college kid messing around.
It’s about to get even more interesting. If it is the Memphis Democrat’s son who is responsible, his computer and any correspondence he has had of late (say with Obama supporters/campaign???), will be sure to come to light.
sounds bigger than one college kid messing around.pretty easy to tell you the truth. regular folks fall for social engineering attacks pretty easily. This particular kid didn't even need to do that, he just googled her personal info.
Part of the "Great Alaskan Lawyer Assult of 08"?
Let’s see, Alaska has a automatic 5 year sentance for each charge, federal charges will be one year mandatory for each count plus whatever the secret service decides to tack on. I’d say the kid/kids who did this are in deep do-do and probably will never be able to vote for Obama!
They need to make a swift and harsh arrest of all those involved. Knowing the Bush Administration, they will drag it on until after the elections.
Each email account be a count, no? The kid might be staring at a wee bit of time in the clink.
They should be launching an internal formal investigation as to why they hadn't already put any email, phone, cell, and computer she and her family has used under strict security to thwart any hackers.
Yes it does. Wouldn’t surprise me a bit for the dems to let a 20 year old kid take the fall for this.
My evil twin hopes this thing runs all the way to the Obama Team.
My good twin does too.
If it turns out that Mike Kernell is indeed the Father of the Hacker Rubico, his direct connections to Tennessee Democrats for Obama will no doubt be of great interest to top news sources in the coming hours.

lol
Her staff, though? He googled them too?
ok.
And he’s not a “kid”, he’s a 20 year old adult, not some 16 year old high schooler.
If it is the TN man (this so called boy is 20, isn’t he?)
where would he be prosedcuted? In Tennessee or Alaska?
Maybe she should have had LIFELOCK....just saying.
When TV shows the hacker frog-marched out of his dungeon in hand-cuffs, MSM will rush to excuse his actions and decry the “overly harsh” treatment.
Please comment on this article. They are saying “The break-in of Palins private account is especially significant because Palin sometimes uses non-government e-mail to conduct state business.”
There is no proof of that statement whatsoever. Please FReep the article to death.
it disturbs me that in all of these “AP” articles, they try to re-direct the focus on gov palin’s “state emails” instead of who hacked, who knew it, and when did they know it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this was an inside job at Yahoo.
