UTICA, New York - A majority of likely voters nationwide think Democrat Barack Obama is more intelligent than Republican John McCain, and a plurality believes Obama will come out on top in Friday's first debate of the 2008 general election season, a new Zogby Interactive poll shows.

More than four out of 10 voters - 42% - said they think Obama will win the debate Friday, compared to 31% who said they think McCain will come out ahead on points. Another 27% said they are unsure who might win.

I hate to sound like a lib, but reading crap like this makes me sick of Americans. How can that many people be so dumb and believe Obama is smart??? My only answer is because they aren't so smart themselves. If morons are in the majority, Obama is as good as in.

You know... people who only watch TV don't see the full picture. That's all I'll say for now.

Well this is good for Sen. McCain. The bar of expectation is lower. So fine... and they have this high expectation of Obama if he doesn’t deliver he’s toast. Here’s hoping for another Saddleback experience. Sen Obama hasn’t had a good track record for these kind of things. McCain has been around, he’ll do very well.

Same type of fools that gave Clinton a 70% approval rating
during the Impeachment causing the GOP to go belly up in the Senate

Mac said I’m suspending my campaign to go back and deal with this financial crisis. He did this because he had the instinct to do this...

Is he smarter? Don...know...but he thinks of what’s best for America not him...

Obama may be smarter... to some people...

But I doubt it....

The “national media” has already written the stories about how their boy mopped the floor with McCain. That’s why they have been so upset with the news that McCain wasn’t going to be there.

Intelligence != wisdom.

This is cousin to the thinking that holds that McCain is mean, while Obama is honest. It should be obvious to anyone that the "meanness" will be felt by those on the receiving end of negative information, whether they be for McCain or Obama. It's like saying the Packers are "mean" for scoring a touchdown against the Patriots. They're only considered "mean" by Patriots fans.

They obviously missed the Saddleback quasi-debate, in which McCain made Obama look exactly like the fool he is.

Once in history, the guy who stuttered and couldn’t talk, needed his brother Aaron to give the plans to the people. It is scary to think that the guy who is shrewd with words, might actually convince people...when the evidence and track record suggests he is constantly changing his mind, depending much on public pressure. Kind of eery to think of a candidate who doesn’t have a dad, a full brother, a mom, any next of kin, a sister, no full blooded cousins...having grown up with little affirmation from The Fam....so...I suppose America wants to see a debate.

The media is doing it’s darndest to make you feel demoralized and hopeless, just as it always does at this time during elections.

Don’t let them.

It’s a wonder they ever got the respondents to put the bong down long enough to answer the question.

Well no need for a debate then. The outcome is predetermined by Zogby’s Zombies.

cool. McCain if he debates will smoke BO on security. For God’s sakes, BO’s region he represented in South Chicago is out of control with crime. The mayor of Chicago wants to activate the National Guard to get control of the situation

The Left is a one trick pony. Calling Bush stupid worked for them, but they are really making a mistake by trying to paint McCain with the same brush. People are going to watch the debate with that belief and are going to be blown away by him. McCain is no Bush (I don't believe Bush is stupid, just that he is no good at proving those who do believe that wrong)and he knows more about this country and this world than Obama could ever hope to.
