Abortion Survivor Jessen Responds to Obama Calling Her "Despicable Liar"
Life News ^ | 9/25/08 | Deal Hudson

LifeNews.com Note: Deal W. Hudson is the director of the Morley Institute for Church & Culture and InsideCatholic.com, and is the former publisher and editor of CRISIS Magazine, a Catholic monthly. He is the author of six books and his articles and comments have been published in many newspapers and magazines.

Gianna Jessen survived a saline abortion 31 years ago. "I didn't have any burns anywhere on my body -- it was amazing." The saline, however, did leave Jessen with a mild case of cerebral palsy, a slight limp, and a life-long commitment to oppose abortion.

Jessen is featured in a television ad presently running in Ohio and New Mexico, criticizing Barack Obama's four votes against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act (BAIPA).

I asked her why she teamed with Jill Stanek's organization, Born Alive Truth, to make the ad. "It's very important for the American people to know how [Obama] feels about the most vulnerable among us," she told me. (Stanek is the Chicago nurse who began lobbying to secure legal protections for babies born alive during abortions.)

Jessen has been active in the anti-abortion movement for 16 years and testified before Congress in 2002 about the BAIPA. At those hearings she met Stanek, who approached her several months ago about doing the ad. "I was thrilled to do it. It's as if I have been preparing many years for this moment."

Obama responded to Jessen's commercial with an ad of his own, dismissing it as "truly vile" and a "despicable lie." He wasn't the only one: Jonathan Martin, a reporter for Politico, called Jessen "a self-proclaimed abortion survivor." When Stanek produced the evidence of Jessen's claims, Politico removed Martin's slam.

Jessen lives in Nashville where she came with her adopted family 16 years ago. After she survived the abortion, she was given back to her biological mother but was shortly placed with a foster family. At the age of three, Jessen was adopted by her foster mother's daughter.

I asked about her mother's reaction to the failed abortion. "I don't know how she felt at the time. But she came out of nowhere two years ago to meet me at an event. She was a broken woman and quite angry. I told her I had forgiven her for what she did, even though she didn't want any forgiveness."

She isn't concerned about the way Obama describes her ad. "I don't really care what he says. I know he voted four times against proper medical care for babies born alive. That's the kind of man he is." So how have people reacted to the commercial? "Some of [Obama's] supporters will be less than kind, but generally the reaction has been very positive."

Jessen spends her time as a speaker, writer, and real estate investor. She took up distance running several years ago because she "wanted to feel God help me in that situation, to have him carry me over the finish line," though she's given up marathons.

No doubt Jessen, whose visibility is growing daily, will need a similar attitude as she is buffeted by the political winds of a presidential campaign. Since her ad started airing in Ohio, polls there have indicated a shift in McCain's direction. No wonder the Obama campaign responded so quickly.

“Jessen lives in Nashville where she came with her adopted family 16 years ago. After she survived the abortion, she was given back to her biological mother but was shortly placed with a foster family. At the age of three, Jessen was adopted by her foster mother’s daughter.”

So, I guess MOM really couldn’t kill her, so she had to get rid of her the old fashioned way, huh? Wretch.......

We don’t get anything but the stray political ad once a week or so. Does anyone have a link to Hussein’s ad?

He is showing symptoms of being a died in the wool sociopathic. His passive aggresive way of crapping on people is typical of pernicious sociopaths.

When Baraq Hussein mohammed 0bama gets to hell,( the sooner the better), how is he going to attempt to explain his support of abortion? I’m surprised he wasn’t aborted!

I wish someone would check to see if he was receiving campaign donations from a fetal tissue provider at the time he blocked medical help for born babies. Most folks don’t realize that prior to the Born ALive INfant Protection Bills a growing way for ending pregnancies/aborting was to induce labor at a very premature age and let the struggling child die, alone, unattended, then harvest their body parts for shipping to research programs paying for fetal tissues. And such ghouls are not the most ethical so you can guess how often a child may have been dissected ‘too soon’.

Ping!

This is more than just a “wedge issue.”

The Husseins would have murdered Trig Palin before he ever had the chance to draw breath, and even after that if he ever did.

Sarah Palin is, spiritually and in actuality, the anti-Hussein.

Not showing symptoms...he is exactly what you said.

Obama's dysfunctional family background has left him searching for his identity for his entire life. We all know he writes about that. But, in all of his attempts to "fit in" he never fully adjusted to fully feeling good in his own skin and place in this world. He follows others and their objectives (ala the Ayres, Penny Pintzer's, Wright's, types of his associates) and has remained a most gullible person who others of questionable integrety manipulate for their own goals. He never questions their word and can easily be swayed because he is afraid of rejection. When confronted with what those people really are - he throws them under the bus and says he didn't have a close relationship with him, or they were not an influence, or whatever - just to get rid of them. In essence, he shows that never really cared about them either. It is easy for Obama to disassociate himself from someone if there is trouble brewing or the relationship becomes an impediment to what he wants to do or present himself as. He learned that skill when he was a child.

Obama's life is dictated by the memories of his mother's and father's abandonment of him. Except for the strong women in his camp that he believes he can trust who support him, Obama can't deal with any other women of power who do not agree with him. He feels threatened and he has to lash out at them in a way he probably still wishes he could have lashed at as his mother. Look how he treated Hillary, then Palin, and now this amazing abortion survivor. They are all threats to him, and probably recall his ever-present memories of being controlled.

Obama has to tell lies, call names, and get just plain vile because his resentment is so deep. A woman with any power over him is reminiscent of his mother who dragged him around the world following men, and then finally dumped him with his grandparents.

His stand on abortion can probably be traced back to those feelings of being "unwanted." He doesn't want a woman to have a baby she might not want, because the child might suffer the dysfunctional life he did at the hands of his mom. But, also in his strange way of thinking, is not a matter of a "woman's choice or right" to him, it is a matter of penalizing the woman for getting pregnant without the desire to love the child. All because he was not loved and cared for by his own mother.

“pernicious sociopath” - good point. Question. Is a racist inextricably a sociopath? His dwelling on skin color variations in his books is racist, but might it also be sociopathic? It is the basis for an attitude of feeling superior to some skin hues over others. Might narcicism be part of being a sociopath?
