ONE QUESTION that Sarah Palin should answer during tomorrow's debate is why, during her tenure as mayor of Wasilla, the town started charging rape victims or their insurers for hospital emergency-room rape kits and examinations.
The policy so outraged the Alaska Legislature that in 2000 it passed unanimously a bill forbidding such fees. But Palin has never explained why, under her leadership, the town stopped picking up the cost of the swabs, specimen containers, and tests.
A spokeswoman for Palin wrote to USA Today that Palin "does not believe, nor has she ever believed, that rape victims should have to pay for an evidence-gathering test." But that was the practice in Wasilla while she was mayor.

I hope they’re dumb enough to ask this question at the debate. Give her a chance to bury this nonsense once and for all.
It is routine in many states since rape evidence is collected at hospitals that hospitals bill the victims. Some states, after much criticism, have started using victims’ compensation funds to pay. Whether or not Alaska does I have no idea. It isn’t a decision a governor makes. These people are - well, I’ll self-censor.

If a Canadian gets payed 55000$ the 2 governments of Quebec (provincial) and Federal will take a total of about 28000-30000 $ from your pay....

My father in law went to the hospital In March came out in June, the Nurses (most of them incompetent immigrants) almost killed him a couple of times over by giving him the wrong prescription..this was only caught by us...
On other time you can spend a total of 7 hours in emergency room without seeing any doctors....I could tell you much much more....But i guess you guess will see if obmaister comes in...

My insurance company paid for my fractured skull ( by a mugger)in 1975 and the bullet in my thigh, (1978). The hospital paid for the surgery on BOTH of my attackers. (One wasn’t able to pay, himself, at all.)
I wish they would ask.
I then wish Palin would point out how that claim is false but ask why in 2008 many communities in Illinois DO charge rape victims for these same rape kits. Moreover, why have journalists such as Gwen Ifil not asked mr community organizer and state senator of Illinois why he never rectified this situation as has been done in Alaska.
There isn’t even a HOSPITAL in Wasilla! How could they charge for a rape kit???????????????
If you were a smart, ambitious, independent minded journalist, you'd do just about anything not to get stuck writing anonymous pap for the editorial board.

Best part is, the business geniuses at the Times paid about $3,000,000,000 bucks for the moribund Globe.
“Smart, ambitious, independent minded jounalist”? Isn’t that an extreme contradition? Mark Styne once noted that everywhere else but in the U.S., jounalism is the profession someone chooses AFTER they’ve failed at everything else.
The Globe has long since forgotten how to shovel anything else. They're merely doing what they do best.
