Conn. officials still checking for 'dead voters'

Hartford (AP) – Connecticut Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz says a review of state voter lists for names of dead people won’t be finished by the November 4 election.

The review has been going on for six months, ever since University of Connecticut journalism students found that about 8,500 dead people were registered to vote in the state.

State election officials have found no evidence of election fraud.

Bysiewicz says 5,300 people on voter lists have been confirmed as having died, another 1,300 are under review and the rest of the errors were corrected through the normal voter registration process.

Bysiewicz says she wants to correct the problems as quickly as possible, but doesn’t want to be overzealous and possibly disenfranchise some people.

I am sure some Republican names are on the rolls too. I definitely would not think to take my wife’s name off the rolls if God forbid she passed away. Is this one of the items on your checklist? I know there is a ton of things to do when a loved one dies, but going to voter registration office would not be the top of the list...am I wrong?

How insensitive to the dead to question their ability to vote.

Tsk, tsk.

I think that we need to get up and get to the voting booths early, as soon as they open, especially in states where it is not required to show id. I hesitate to mention this because it might give some ideas, but suppose some vote fraud groups like ACORN decide to go to the polls and claim to be you and vote your name? (With the tactics that 0bama supporters engaged in in the Democrat primary, I wouldn’t put this past them.) What happens when the real you shows up and apparently has already ‘voted’? What can be done to prevent this?
