Would the Last Honest Reporter Please Turn On the Lights?

An open letter to the local daily paper – almost every local daily paper in America:

I remember reading All the President's Men and thinking: That's journalism. You do what it takes to get the truth and you lay it before the public, because the public has a right to know.

This housing crisis didn't come out of nowhere. It was not a vague emanation of the evil Bush administration.

It was a direct result of the political decision, back in the late 1990s, to loosen the rules of lending so that home loans would be more accessible to poor people. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were authorized to approve risky loans.

What is a risky loan? It's a loan that the recipient is likely not to be able to repay...

I have no doubt that if these facts had pointed to the Republican Party or to John McCain as the guilty parties, you would be treating it as a vast scandal. "Housing-gate," no doubt. Or "Fannie-gate."

You know that’s not gonna do. Leaving that light on will cost us oil! Somebody (other than a journalist) is gonna have to do the job.

I agree with Sean Hannity. Journalism died in 2008.

I remember reading All the President's Men and thinking: That's journalism

The real irony is that Woodward and Bernstein were frauds (and are still frauds)as established about 20 years after Watergate in Silent Coup ( St. Martins Press).

So the idea journalists have lost their morals in the last 35 years is wrong. The difference today, as I see it, is that the MSM does not seem constrained to maintain even a semblance of impartiality. "News reporters" openly root in favor of the liberal view and simply ignore anyone who criticizes them.

Journalism died in 2004.

In 2008, we're just getting a stronger wiff of the rotting corpse.

CNN reports on the financial crisis and then ask “Who to blame?” Real journalist would have found out AND REPORTED IT by now. After reporting on the voter registration fraud by ACORN, CNN asks, “Will your vote be counted?” not how much is your vote devalued by fraudulent votes.

Q: What do Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Monica Lewinski, Larry Sinclair, three dead members of TUCC, and Delaware AG Beau Biden have in common?

A: I don't know. The Karaoke Media Machine refuses to connect the dots.

Why don’t conservatives start more newspapers, Cable networks, and news magazines? World Magazine is a great conservative news magazine as an example. http://www.worldmag.com/archives/2008-10-18

The reporters and editors at World work hard to get the facts right, but are very upfront that they come from a conservative/Christian worldview and will reflect that, especially in their opinion articles and even what they choose to report or not report. They state that every journalistic endeavor has some kind of a worldview, and that it is not honest to pretend that you don’t. I don’t understand why as Christians and conservatives we haven’t fought back more by establishing more of our own. Talk radio has been great, but it would also be great to see conservatives starting more cable networks, local newspapers, etc. I would certainly support them & subscribe!
