Are we approaching the point where we should make a law that being or having ever been a lawyer bars you from ever holding elected office?

What's wrong with that? I happen to like Chocolate Ice Cream, so next session I am going to gather all those who think just like me to lobby congress to pass a law that will allow us to consume all we can eat at the expense of the tax payers.
