If you cant see the wisdom of defeating Obama in 2008... Oh, I can see the rationale behind that. But, what I don't get is why we are voting for a Socialist (McCain) in order to save ourselves from another Socialist (Obama).

Someone who cannot see the many and important differences between handing power to a Rat administration rather than a Republican administration at this point in history is not teachable.
Good day.

*Sigh*
I think the events of the past 2 weeks, and the bland vocals from McCain were alarming enough, but . . .
. . . . today, here in Europe after todays multinational bail out for the financial institutions, we are reading about the 'global plans' to reinforce the Worlds banks, and how 'change' is needed now the financial system does not respect territorial borders, with a 'unified' body to regulate banks.
This seems logical right upto the point that our president, Mr Sarkozy, says the EU and the US needs a 'central' body, paid for by 'banking' members to oversee it.
That statement, following the G7 meeting, and the EU monetary fund meeting which was attended by the UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown (even though the UK doesn't belong the the EU monetary system) coupled with all the IDENTICAL nationalisation measures instigated across the banking sector across the UK, the EU and the US today leaves me with one stark observation.
What's happening right now is the foundations of the complete Socialisation of the West.
This is exactly how the EU was formed, first financial integration, then as they say, the rest is history, with daily signing away of National rights, common policies on human rights, law enforcement, immigration.
Last week an Australian man was arrested in the UK while changing flights, under an arrest warrant raised by Germany for holocaust denial, without ever being in Germany. Think about the ramifications of that, seriously.
All we are hearing here in Europe is TV mockery of Palin, praise for Obama and his Socialist policies that are well aligned to EU policy.
Seriously though, the ultimate irony is that there is a deep stirring of right wing opinion in Europe, In Belgium, France, Czech Republic, UK and many others, there are politicians branded as extreme right Nationalists (who in reality are just orthodox Conservatives) who are talking the politics of the common people, and gaining power daily.
My point, and it dismays me to say this (again) is I think McCain is one of those mainstream Conservatives, who are, in reality just a different type of Socialist.
The hope and joy I got when I first saw Sarah Palin was incredible. A Politicain with fire, attitude and devotion to her core beliefs has been eroded by the total lacklustre performance of McCain.
I've waited, and waited, craving for him to spark into life, and speak with confidence like a Conservative, and now I'm just . . . lost!
I think it's so unfair laying any blame on Palin for this campaign. She's the VP, she showed she had the steel, McCain needed to support her and build on that, instead of him relying on her to try and appease Conservative opinion, while he panders to the wave of Socialist voters.
McCain, for me has been the biggest political disappointment in decades, if he does manage to turn this round and win this, it's not going to matter, the US will still get Socialism, with a Republican McCain packaging.

That would be funny if it weren’t so sad.
If you haven’t figured this out by now, I’m sure as wingnuts not going to waste any more time on it on your behalf.
Good day.
