'I've lost faith in The Messiah': How EDWARD HEATHCOAT AMORY lost his Obama-mania
dailymail.co.uk ^ | October 14, 2008 | Edward Heathcoat-amory

Four years ago, during one of the dullest and most depressing American presidential election campaigns in living memory, I happened by chance to watch an obscure senator from Illinois deliver a speech to the Democratic National Convention.

It was electrifying. I can still remember the power of his voice, as he said: 'I stand here knowing that my story is part of the larger American story, that I owe a debt to all of those who came before me, and that in no other country on Earth is my story even possible.'

Barack Obama was the best political speaker I'd seen in my lifetime. And I wasn't the only one who thought so. He walked off that stage a star, and four years later he is the Democratic candidate for President of the United States.

My enthusiasm that day is now shared by millions, in America and in Europe. He gives hope to those of us in Britain who admire what America stands for but can't abide George Bush, with his cowboy boots, prayer meetings and appalling judgment - over Iraq, in particular.

For us, Barack Obama - who risked his career with a speech in 2002 against the war - seems to be the man who can decontaminate the American brand.

So I've rooted for Obama as he fought first to defeat Hillary Clinton and now John McCain, his admirable but not inspirational opponent. I've followed Obama's speeches on YouTube, and they've gone on getting better.

I've listened to him narrate his own remarkable autobiography - Dreams From My Father - and I've willed him on to victory.

Then a friend recommended a short book entitled The Case Against Barack Obama, by a respected U.S. investigative journalist called David Freddoso,

Edward Heathcoat-Amory: “Oh, I still want Obama to win.”

This article is a waste of time.

Oh, I still want Obama to win. Sarah Palin may be a remarkable person, but I don't want her a heartbeat away from leadership of the free world.

Another kool aid drinking leftist who can't recognize a Marxist pawn from a person of real substance.

Go McPalin !!!

Essentially many whom are generally informed on the left feel lackluster about him.

Oh, I still want Obama to win. Sarah Palin may be a remarkable person, but I don't want her a heartbeat away from leadership of the free world. But when Barack Obama becomes President, as I still hope he will, I no longer expect him to change the world.

So the point of the story is that once you get over the celebrity aspects, you should still vote for Obama.

No thanks.

He read that book, believed and accepted what was in it, and he still wants Obama to win. This despite his admission that John McCain is an inspirational leader. Apparently McCain’s flaw is that he isn’t a wonderful public speaker. And as we all know, that is the only criterion by which one should judge the President of the United States.

Sheesh. What a buffoon. He’s no different than the other logic-free Obamatrons, just better educated.

Looks to me like an excuse to ignore what he claims he learned about Obama.

How on earth could this stupid man want a guy guilty of all that was laid out in this article to win?

Dastardly.

Not surprising. The writer’s self-described transition is from thinking Obama was an idealistic leftist (as if there was such an animal in politics) to realizing he’s a corrupt leftist. So he still supports Obama, but sadly, you see, rather than with heartfelt enthusiasm.

Even when confronted with truth, the delusion appears to be too strong for Obama followers to overcome.

This article reminds me of the statements I've heard from abused women when they take their abuser back into their homes. "I know what he is and does to me, but I love him, and he has promised not to hit me again... He promises me he has changed!"

They don't change. Some of the women wind up dead.

LOL! A little background on the author...

WASTE: Edward Heathcoat Amory with a typical M&S meal

So how much packaging is there in a typical family meal for four? I decided to find out from my local M&S. First, I chose Thai Chicken Satay with a spicy peanut sauce as a starter. That means a colourful cardboard outer package, a plastic inner package and, of course, a plastic pot to hold the peanut sauce.

Follow this with Aromatic Crispy Duck with Pancakes, hoisin sauce, cucumber and spring onions as a main course. Cue cardboard outer packaging, metallic cooking tray, another miniature cooking pot for the sauce, and naturally - or unnaturally – more plastic wrapping for both the cucumber and the spring onions. And that serves two, so double the whole pile for a family meal.

Chunky chips to go with the duck - more cardboard boxes. And some Caesar-style vegetables, encased in plastic microwaveable packs, which you need to open to remove the small plastic wallet containing parmesan shavings. Don't forget some 'Gastropub' creamed spinach, complete with outer cardboard packaging and inner plastic tray...

LINK.

This clown apparently is a Brit. He’s not voting for anybody on Nov. 4th. Not in THIS country, anyhow!

Truly a waste of time!

Is this guy mentally retarded?

He cleary sees the Chicago pond-scum that Obama happily swam in, yet somehow still wants him elected?

So the Euro-weenies are still chewing the cud of Bush hating. They won’t have to pay our increased taxes when Obama is done with us.
