Newsbusters ^ | October 16, 2008 | Ken Shepherd

Posted on 10/16/2008 9:30:47 AM PDT by St. Louis Conservative

Time's Joe Klein is giddy. Convinced Sen. Barack Obama is barreling down the straightaway towards the electoral finish line with Sen. McCain choking on his dust, Mr. Anonymous is cheering the promise of big government and wealth redistribution, seeing an Obama victory as a mandate for LBJ-like big government activism.

The thing is, it would be a mandate.

There are simply too many people who cannot connect the dots. And if McCain loses, I hope to hell they enjoy the next 4 years, ‘cause Isure won’t.

Yeah, I’d like to take back the word “liberal”, to what it really means -

one who seeks maximal individual LIBERTY while recognizing the inherent responsibilities of that freedom.

“Liberal”, now, simply means “socialist”.

A theory that might make a shred of sense if Obama actually campaigned as the far left liberal he is, instead of pretending to be a moderate. I’ve lost count on the number of positions he’s shifted right on.

If The One wins, it will be because Americans were dumb enough to be duped into thinking he’s a moderate.

Which, come to think of it, is how Jimmuh won.

Fess up, he doesn’t want COMMUNIST and MARXISM to be “4-letter” words.

Oh, I wouldn’t say “liberal” is a four-letter word.

I’d say it’s a whole string of four letter words transformed into various other parts of speech and said in rapid succession.

If Obama is elected, I'm suppose we can be all celebrate the following:

1. No more racism.
2. No more whinning leftists.
3. No more homeless, uninsured, drug addicts, etc.
4. No more voter fraud....or elections.
5. No more enemies abroad.
6. No more partisanship in Congress.

And, of course, we'll have the most intellectual, brilliant, suave, erudite, smooth, and perfect president the world has ever seen.

How about calling them Marxist Democrats? You’ve already screwed up what a classic liberal used to mean.

Liberal used to be a good word.

Adam Smith and the free market crowd were “Liberals”.

Milton Freedman talks about being a “liberal”.

Now, you are right. It means Big Govt.

If Obama is elected, America will become a 4-letter word: USSA.

I'd like to see Joe Klein, aka “Anonymous”, write a sequel to “Primary Colors” to chronicle the back-story of Barry's campaign. Maybe he can call it “Primarily Colored: The Wild Ride of a Non-Authentic Magic Man from Chicago to Washington”. Maybe there will be a chapter on how Barry won the Senate seat by forcing his opponent's divorce decree to be unsealed. Another can be a wild limo ride in Gurnee, Illinois in 1999. Another can be about traveling to Pakistan in 1981 under an Indonesian passport as “Barry Soetoro”. Lots of ideas here....

“Now, you are right. It means Big Govt.”

It also means giving Bill Ayers a pass and a job as a teacher.

It also means giving the Weather Underground pardons on your way out of office.

It also means forgiving Roman Polanski and giving him an award.

It also means taking a class of 1st graders to a lesbian wedding.

It also means celebrating your teenaged drug experiences.

It also means...

Yes. As soon as Obama is inaugurated, the economy will “start to turn the corner”, birds will be singing, Iraq will disappear from the headlines (this from the tiny amount that remains after we started winning), and everyone around the world will love us again.

Sweet utopia!

How many other words have the left taken as their own and destroyed the original meaning?

Progressive has nothing to do with progress any more. I don't see it as progress to have the yoke of government applied even more heavily to my shoulders.

Gay has certainly lost its original meaning of happy and carefree.

Racist now means "Shut up! stop arguing with the left."

Choice now deals solely with abortion. Don't try to choose to live your life your own way without anyone else's interference unless in involves the death of a unborn child.

Liberal will ALWAYS be a 4 letter word....”C-O-M-M-I-E” (using Joe Biden’s math)

It was pretty confusing to read “Road to Serfdom” because Hayek referred to the capitalists as “liberals” and the collectivists as fascists.
