MONTREAL -- Police say theres a link between the seizure of explosives several hundred kilometres northeast of Quebec City and the evacuation of several homes in Montreal today.
A school was also locked down as police carried out a search warrant in a nearby apartment building.
Provincial police spokesman Claude Ross says three people were arrested and one ton of explosives was found in a van in Mont Joli, about 350 kilometres east of Quebec City.
He says the vehicle was intercepted by police outside a doughnut shop, adding that the explosives were stolen from a local contractor.

One ton of explosives found in van in MontrealThe headline and article are missing a key piece of information. Was or was not the van down by the river?

My father used to send me down to the hardware store on my Yamaha 80 to buy a case of dynamite and enough blasting caps to go around when I was 12 years old.
Amazing how things have changed in one generation.

Regarding pipeline story:
Terrorism expert John Thompson said that suggests the bombings aren't the work of organized environmental groups mounting a broader campaign.
"This also suggests that this is a small, amateurish effort by community activists," said Thompson, president of the Toronto-based Mackenzie Institute.
Seems they have a "community activist" infestation in Canada, too. Time to organize them out of business.

Heard of a van that is loaded with weapons
packed up and ready to go
Heard of some gravesites, out by the highway
a place where nobody knows
The sound of gunfire, off in the distance
I’m getting used to it now
Lived in a brownstone, lived in the ghetto
I’ve lived all over this town
This ain’t no party, this ain’t no disco
this ain’t no fooling around
No time for dancing, or lovey dovey
I ain’t got time for that now
