The essence of this election couldn't be simpler. The American public is so appalled at the condition of the country (which it unfairly, but not implausibly, blames on President Bush), a majority actually is considering voting for Sen. Obama. And when an electorate is intent on doing something, the last thing it wants to hear about are the facts.
Moreover, the public's lack of interest in the facts is facilitated by the major American media's refusal to report them.
For example, as Obama has portrayed his political career as one extended beau geste to the ideal of American democracy, a slightly curious media would have thought to report on how he ran his previous elections. And those prior elections, far from being models of honest elections honestly fought, are redolent of Chicago politics at their most suspect.
Obama's first election was described recently by Martin Fletcher, a foreign correspondent for NBC News, in the British newspaper The Times (not on NBC): "Mr Obama won a seat in the state senate in 1996 by the unorthodox means of having surrogates successfully challenge the hundreds of nomination signatures that candidates submit. His Democratic rivals, including Alice Palmer, the incumbent, were all disqualified." Hmm.
Obama's election to the U.S. Senate was even more curious, as described by Gerard Baker in the Irish Independent:
"In the Democratic primary, he was a long shot. But a month before the election, his main opponent, Blair Hull, a wealthy Chicago futures trader, was forced to publish divorce papers that revealed, among other charming details, his wife's claim that he had once threatened to kill her.

The only duty Mccain owes to his country is to buy Sarah Palin a 30 minute spot on prime time national tv. After that, everthing will take care of itself.

One thing about these American Idol winners. They don’t stay around very long. I expect “That One” to be a one-termer. Americans may have to fight to take their country back but I don’t believe anyone in their right mind is going to want more than four years of this idiot.
...the bravest, finest, most lovable man I ever met.
Another duty could be the releasing of a video of J.WRIGHT and a remind of his strong ties with OSAMABAMA
McCain never thought his country would demand more of him than he gave in North Vietnam. Amazing. Well, it’s time to saddle up, John. The US needs you desperately. I finally found one person who wants Obama to win, though. A teacher, of course. The NEA has them brainwashed, and she’s scared that under McCain, she’d lose her job. A recent widow, fifties, MA resident. And of course, our schools aren’t exactly stellar.
Eerie, isn’t it. God help us and John McCain.
Bingo............nails it but good.
McC is unable to campaign on anything else than "war hero." Unfortunately, the trillion dollar Iraq debacle queered that deal.
McC was leashed-up and goaded into mouthing "Endless War" platitudes------until the economy sprung a leak. Now he's at sea----his campaign strategy is sinking.
That stupid move "suspending his campaign" as the bailout bill surfaced only succeeded in tying him to the sinking economy. He never came up with anything to dissuade voters of that conclusion.
Even stupider----McC embraced conservative haters like loser Giuliani and amnesty-pusing Hernandez. Pukeneo stooge Joe (gag) Lieberman attached himself to McC as his "surrogate." Opportunistic Lieberman promptly wrote a $100K check to Dems to "preserve" his liberal creds (Lieberman's foot is in both camps so that whoever wins he gets a job).
McC's nowhere campaign is looking more like Dole's everyday.
