FBI Removes 'Honor Killing' From Murder Suspect's 'Wanted' Poster
Fox News ^ | October 21, 2008 | Maxim Lott

Posted on 10/21/2008 9:09:40 PM PDT by Stoat

The FBI removed all mention of the controversial term “honor killing” from the wanted poster of a double-murder suspect after FOXNews.com ran a story announcing the use of the term.

Yasser Abdel Said, wanted for the murder of his two daughters, has eluded authorities for almost a year. The bodies of the young women — Sarah Said, 17, and Amina Said, 18 — were discovered in the back of a taxicab in Irving, Texas, on New Year's Day.

(edit)

The girls’ great aunt, Gail Gartrell, has always called the case an “honor killing.” And for a few days — until last Friday — the FBI publicly agreed.

“The 17- and 18-year-old girls were dating American boys, which was contrary to their father's rules of not dating non-Muslim boys,” The FBI "wanted" poster read early last week. “Reportedly, the girls were murdered due to an 'Honor Killing.'”

(edit)

The FBI said Tuesday that it had deleted the term because the FBI never meant to attach a label to the case. Special agent Mark White, media coordinator in the bureau's Dallas office, told FOXNews.com that the FBI changed the wording “because the statement was not meant to indicate that the FBI was ‘labeling’ anything.

(edit)

White also addressed criticism that the FBI was willing to label “hate crimes,” where a racial motive is suspected, but not culturally motivated incidents such as "honor killings." He said the difference is that “hate crimes” are defined by law, whereas “honor killings” are not.

"Honor killing" = murder. Murder works for me.

Just like I don't need murder to be called a "hate crime".

Murder = Murder.

I prefer it just be called MURDER. There is no PC involved, no excuse; he killed his daughters in cold blood and should pay.

However, we know WHY he did it; that’s where the HK comes in.

I kind of hope I find that guy first.....I have a new Benchmade I need to try out.

Would a President Obama decriminalize such moslem honor activities?

Who knows?

Remember, we need to be sensitive cultural differences.

"Sounds more like FBI WIMPSPEAK"

Yes, you're right. The term "honor killing" was removed to avoid angering the Muslims and for no other reason. Too damned bad that we have to do a little "soft shoe" routine as we dance around the sensibilities of these Gothic people.

**Remember, we need to be sensitive cultural differences.**

This is AMERICA. We have Laws. “HONOR KILLING” is NOT one of them. it is MURDER and you will be treated as such.

BE GRATEFUL!! We didn’t round you up and put you in Camps after 9/11 for OUR PROTECTION. That being said, you are still the Enemy until you prove OTHERWISE!

I agree with you, except I want the Muslim aspect highlighted. Islam is incompatible with American values, and I want every possible negative light shining on it.

Why would you want the FBI to call his crime an "Honor" killing?

There is no "Honor" in such a cowardly murder.

Once he is captured and tried, the details of his crime will come out and no decent person will consider his crime "honorable".

See my post #12. I want the Muslim aspect of this crime to be brought to the forefront. Islam is a cancer, and we need to kill it.

Gosh I hope I never see this guy in person ... but then again, I’m already in my sixties, so spending the rest of my life in prison might not be so bad for ridding the world of this particula vermin.

It seems to me that the FBI Wanted Poster makes that perfectly clear:

"Yaser Abdel Said is wanted for murder. On January 1, 2008, Said took his two teenaged daughters for a ride in his taxi cab, under the guise of taking them to get something to eat. He drove them to a secluded park in Irving, Texas, where he allegedly shot both girls to death. They died of multiple gunshot wounds. The 17- and 18-year-old girls were dating American boys, which was contrary to their father's rules of not dating non-Muslim boys."

The only thing that has change is that such a killing is no longer being labelled an "Honor" killing.

That cowardly murder has no "Honor".

You are far too valuable to us here at Free Republic....I don’t think that people in jail for murder are usually allowed internet access, so it would be a devastatig loss. He made the mistake of committing his crime in Texas after all, so he stands a good chance of being punished properly when he’s caught.

That cowardly murder has no "Honor".

Of course he doesn't. But the term "Honor Killing" is a colloquialism and the meaning is understood by a vast number of people.

I just want Islam to be exposed for what it is.

The good news is that President Obama will up the amount of immigrants from Islamic nations to make sure “diversity” is felt throughout the nation.

As Europe melts, we need to follow suit.

Allah Ackbar!
