Poll: Obama edges ahead of McCain in Montana
Associated Press ^ | 10/23/08 | MATT GOURAS

Posted on 10/23/2008 12:46:39 PM PDT by Alter Kaker

A new poll shows that Democrat Barack Obama could be edging ahead of Republican John McCain in Montana.

Obama is at 44 percent and John McCain is at 40 percent in the Montana State University-Billings poll released Thursday. The poll reverses others from earlier in the fall that showed McCain with a lead in the state.

The poll of 403 Montanans was conducted from Thursday though Monday and has a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.

Both Obama and McCain did a pretty good job in the poll of holding their party's base, but Obama held an advantage among self-described independents.

By a large margin, respondents said they thought McCain had run a more negative campaign.

Predictably, McCain got better marks on the foreign relations issue while Obama scored better on the economy.

NOT!!

I have a friend in Montana, near Billings- who says the state is McCain/Palin country.

Those country boys like their guns and hunting too much to ever vote for Obama.
Stupid students from out of state could be the source of this poll, tho.

There is a Dem senator up for reelection next month. Max Baucus, Dem incumbent is running against Kelleher. Could this be a Republican pick up?

It's polls like this that remove all doubt about any accuracy in the polling.

There is no other way to explain it. If they had just had a couple states showing a swing or a couple points up on the National poll I may have believed it. Now I have no doubt that Hussein is in trouble, these polls are used to prop him up. Only the liberal sheep will believe this nonsense.

To: ALL:

What kind of place do you think Montana is? 90% cowboys, 9% boot sellers and 1% bankers?

Montana is the home of egregious organizations like the Greater Yellowstone Coalition (goal: returns the planes to their natural state by removing all traces of mankind...) and many, many more.

The urban centers all have 4 year colleges and all (except Butte) are trending liberal....

We have two bad liberal senators Max Bacchus and Testor. Bacchus is up for reelection this year and the republican running against him is 79 years old and a fool!

Max is running lots of ads about his accomplishments and Obama is flooding the media with lies about McCain.

I have yet to hear or see an single McCain ad.

I fully EXPECT Montana to go for Obama (he spent 4th of July in Butte).

The only good sign in this whole mess is in my neighborhood there are only 2 Obama signs and many, many McCain signs - 4 and 8 years ago there were lot's of Democrat signs and very few Bush signs...I have little hope, though...

No chance in Hell. Never gonna happen. Kelleher is 79 years old and a fool, he won the primary from Democrats crossing over to vote him onto the ticket instead one of the good Republicans.

Max is horrible for our state and we just cannot get rid of him.

If it were 90% cowboys, the GOP wouldn't stand a chance in Montana.

Total BS, that’s WTF.

Even if it is true, it won’t be once the photos of teh 20 year old McCain campaign worker who had a B carved into her face by a Fauxbama supporter get distributed.

Fauxbama just went from a possible close lose, to a massive lose. Those undecideds are going to break so far for McCain after this, it won’t even be funny.
