One in four seem to have more sense than the rest. H.S. is all B.S. these days, the big social experiment in bullying, drugs and one-upmanship. No wonder so many get out.

What they don't say is how many enroll in distance learning or get their GED. I doubt there are any stats on that.

They also don't have the stats on how many free-thinking, conservative and Christian students get expelled because of zero tolerance and not wanting to go along with the groupthink.

It looks like bad news on the surface, but they're not reporting the true story. Government education is a failure and these kids (and their parents) know it.

I think you’re right. More dropouts than you think have the grades and test scores, but for one reason or another, they’ve had it with school. They’re not all educational failures, they just don’t have the patience to put up with the garbage and get their diplomas, which is unfortunate. A recent article in my newspaper featured a girl who opted to get a GED. She said the teachers wasted time interacting with the students on matters that had nothing to do with the subjects they were hired to teach, and she was very annoyed by that. They were wasting her time.

Several college students in my state testified before a state education committee that they wanted more rigorous courses for high school students. They were embarrassed that they couldn’t keep up.

I posted similarlly on this thread.

There are two ends of the spectrum here.

Yes, there are the kids who have already decided to remain in the welfare culture and who, therefore, see no need to finish HS.

But there are also the kids who have already decided on a plan to get their higher education and enter the workforce or establish careers and who, therefore, see no need to finish HS.

GEDs are a wonderful option these days. Bright, motivated kids don’t need to be held back to get a traditional diploma.
