Help needed identifying Vichy Republicans.
Self | Self

I've had enough, after watching Gerry Rivers of all people, an inveterate Obama fan, throw dirt on McCain/Palin, I think the list of traiterous Republicans otherwise known as Vichy Republicans should be assembled before the election.

TOPICS: Activism/Chapters; Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: gopcoup; gopmania; rino; rinorevolution; turncoatlist; turncoatrepublicans; vichyrepublicans

I need some input from my fellow Conservatives, the Vichy Republican list includes:

Colin Powell

William Weld

Scott McClellan

Freid

Adelman

David Brooks

Doug Kmeic

George Will

David Frum

Peggy Noonan

Let us dispell the notion of a "Conservative" punditry, if one looks at the columnists on Drudge, half the so called "Conservative" ones are now Obama supporters.

Good people are reading those columns in an attempt to find Conservative re-enforcement...and finding only scorn for McCain Palin.

Include any Republicans that voted for the passage of the “Economic Rescue Plan” that was opposed by the public 5 to 1.

Oh, and any time Andrew Sullivan attempts to identify as a conservative or speak for conservatives (if he still does), he needs to be ignored.

It is beyond me how any of these so-called “Republicans” can slam the McCain campaign. They can’t discover anything wrong with Obama? They’re not looking.

Gerry has never been a conservative. He support illegal immigration( racial or ethnic unity there) , gun control, abortion, affirmative action etc. I can not think of one thing conservative he supports except maybe the military.

“Vichy Republicans”? This rhetoric seems a little over the top.

I don't know that all are "Obama Supporters" per se. Some are merely snobs who resent seeing "their" party taken over by the likes of Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber. In any case, their "purity" is the same as a vote for the Obomunist.

Chris Buckley hurts to type, but it is what it is, he slammed Palin then acted as a babe in the wilderness by writing “if he turns to the left, I won’t like that”

He didn’t invent the phrase. It’s been in use for several days now.

Lurk more.

I think it's perfect. Even better, few on the left will understand it because that would require knowledge of history.

“Vchy France, or the Vichy regime are the common terms used to describe the government of France from July 1940 to August 1944. This government, which succeeded the Third Republic, officially called itself the French State (L’État Français), in contrast with the previous designation, “French Republic.” Marshal Philippe Pétain proclaimed the government following the military defeat of France by Nazi Germany during World War II and the vote by the National Assembly on July 10, 1940. This vote granted extraordinary powers to Pétain, the last Président du Conseil (Prime Minister) of the Third Republic, who then took the additional title Chef de l’État Français (”Chief of the French State”). Pétain headed the reactionary program of the so-called “Révolution nationale”, aimed at “regenerating the Nation.”

Aimed at regenerating the Republic, there is coincidence and there is similarity...

Oh I’m well aware of that. But given that he actually started a thread using it I figured I’d comment here.
