McCain cuts into Obama's edge on jobs, economy, poll finds

"Joe the Plumber" may be paying off for Sen. John McCain.
The Arizona senator scored sharp gains on the pivotal issue of jobs and the economy in the past week, helping him gain a bit on front-runner Sen. Barack Obama and narrow the presidential race as it heads into the final week, according to an Ipsos-McClatchy Poll released Tuesday.
The poll found Obama's margin over McCain on who's stronger on jobs and the economy - by far the top issue in the country - down from 16 points to 7 points in one week.
The Illinois senator's loss of ground on that benchmark question came as McCain hammered him repeatedly as someone who would give taxpayers' money to the poor and pay for it by raising taxes on small businesses, much like the plumbing business in Ohio that "Joe the Plumber" Wurzelbacher said he wanted to buy someday.
-snip-
When matched head to head without other candidates, Obama leads McCain by 5 points, down from 9 the week before.

GREAT DAY> Gallup by 2, PA in sight, and then this. Im going to have to enjoy my first glass of wine this evening
Ping.
Worth noting: Ipsos was one of the more Dem friendly polling outfits in 2004.
The Peeeeeeeeeeeeeew poll is a joke. Even the Daily Kos bought and paid for pollster shows the race tightening.
Keep hitting on Taxes, keep hitting on Taxes, keep hitting on Taxes.
Put Obamao’s hand in EVERYONE’s wallets, and gun cabinets and freedoms.

Today’s stock market activity suggests very strongly that McCain/Palin will WIN.
Keep the faith...we will win.
Time to bring out the heavy artillery.
This news just keeps getting better and better. The voters are finally ignoring the stock mkt, or getting desensitized to it (and today it surged, yeah) to where simple Joe the plumber is making sense. I know daily it seems Joe is on the TV and the more the Dems try to attack him the more face time he gets. Americans do not like to see people like us getting crucified by the Dems exploiting a citizen who asked a question to a candidate. That part is what is causing traction...the dirty politics of attacking the attacker is coming back to bite the Dems where it counts. How sweet it is!
What a GREAT photo!! Just when I thought she couldn’t get any lovelier. That woman exudes authority, confidence AND beauty at the same time. Fascinating.
Short, sweet and resonate. I didn’t think McCain can do it. But you know he seems to have been listening and his “message” is coherent, short and strong.
You know that the media doesn’t want to let him get it out though.
The message is taking hold. And people are starting to say, wait a second, who is this guy who says he’ll give a tax cut.
Gosh one minute looking into his record would show what a liar he is.
Obama the Redistributor indeed.
Commander in Chief in 4 years.
Why only the first one?
I recommend you enjoy all of them.
That’s it, I’m voting for Sarah. Wait, I already did....can I vote twice?
Exactly! Make the American voter actually feel Obama's hand in your back pocket.
