"Red Square" is a section of University of Washington campus that has red brick covering the walk areas around some of the classroom buildings. It is also quite an appropriate name for the University of Washington.
What's ironic is that it happens to be the roof of an underground parking garage, as well. Sort of a temple to the internal combustion engine, so hated by the leftists when I worked as a parking attendant in that garage in the mid 1970's, as well as today.
Not as much as you might think. The libertarians and Young Republicans are very active. During the early days of the war, when 60's retread profs were trying to demonstrate, they got very few takers. Kids in ROTC are treated with respect and walk around campus in uniform w/o harassment. There are many, many active religious groups.
That said, the Red Square thing freaked me out a bit before I moved out there, but learned it wasn't anything to worry about.
