Come on, there were legitimate claims of monopoly abuse.

But even back in those days if you as a customer did not like Microsoft you could buy a Mac. Furthermore, what business does the government have telling a private company what they can and cannot bundle with their own software?

I’m not talking about Apple. I’m talking about Netscape (and now Linux/BeOS).

Microsoft was twisting arms of companies NOT to bundle Netscape with their OS. And doing the same if you dared offer another OS on your machines (BeOS, Linux, etc...)

Unfortunately the DOJ made a bad decision — to go after the ‘bundling of Internet Explorer with Windows’ problem. To me it was no problem at all. If Microsoft wanted to bundle a browser, great.

The problem is when they blackmailed OEMs to not bundle any other OS’s and Browsers on their machines.

That’s my beef — and it stifled other OS’s and browsers to the point that they are now only starting to recover.
