As I recall from my high school history, WWI ended on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918. Originally know as Armistice Day, it was renamed Veterans Day.

Can someone explain to me how Obama missed being with his Mom before she died of cancer? My Dad died of cancer and I spent the last six weeks of his life at his side and the previous year going with him to his chemo treatments.
Which reminds me of the Tim Curry character in “Rocky Horror Picture Show” singing his swan song at the end of the movie that he was “I'm going home” with crocodile tears in his eyes as the alien commander who's taking him back to his home planet comments derisively, “How sentimental”.

That’s an easy one. He was too busy campaigning for his position in Illinois government to bother spending time with his mother, payback for her abadoning him. His sister was with her mother when she died as well, having traveled back to HI from NYC where she was attending school.
Facts don’t matter.
He flew nine hours each way, and he spent a whopping one hour with the woman who raised him. And his lovely wife Michelle could not be bothered to go along...maybe because Granny was white?
