Polls officially closed at 8 p.m. in Pennsylvania, but ballots are still being cast in Westmoreland County. County spokesman Dan Stevens said that as of closing time there were still long lines at "numerous" polling places. Some precincts had as many as 70 people waiting to cast ballots. Stevens said it is estimated that more than half of the county's 306 precincts were still open after 8 p.m. "We were prepared for this," Stevens said. No one was permitted to queue up at the polling places after 8 p.m.

This is why it's irresponsible to predict the outcome of a state's election immediately after the polls close. In today's wired world, the people standing in line will know about it, and won't bother to vote.

It's irresponsible in any state, but it's especially irresponsible in a battleground state with a high turnout.

How many times have the pricks in the media called Florida for Democrats the last few years only to be wrong? I am going to send this message, and then I am going to go down on my knees to pray to my father and brother for devine intervention. Please do the same.

Okay, using “pricks in the media” and praying for “divine intervention” in the same paragraph is a little “different”, but I think I understand your frustration. :-)

I will continue to pray for God’s blessings on this country along with you.

Pgh...don't give up on PA yet...I visited the Secy of State website (from your link)...NONE of my County (Westmoreland) has been counted. NONE...and politico (yes, 0bama's very own politico) had Westmoreland, Montgomery and Lancaster as the PA 'counties to watch.' So what gives?

Rush Limbaugh was right this afternoon...he said THEY would call PA early and then have to back pedal...and that is what's going to happen. FWIW...Butler Co. was going McCain (similar demographic to Westmoreland)...THIS IS WAAAAAAAY TOO EARLY TO CALL!!!

I went to the York County voting results website. There are NO RESULTS posted there either, so that area has not been included in MSM'S OR ANYONE'S announcement of PA for Obama. York Co. used to be RED. Hope they hold strong this time. Westmoreland was RED, I think people there might be really angry about Murtha's statement of the areas around there being "redneck." Enough so that they stay in the McCain lane.

As we know it is mainly in the PGH and PHILLY BIG CRIME AREAS, that the Dems have a strong hold. And, Obama thru ACORN, got so many of those criminals out to register and then vote (a couple of times, perhaps). I saw a video on YouTube posted today where one guy openly admitted voting twice. The reporter said "Well I don't think that is legal, but ok" Imagine...actually admitting on camera that he voted twice and laughing about it. This is the type of arrogant thinking these people have. Just flaunt our country's laws so Obambi can get you more in your next welfare check!

. We might not get a victory there, due to those type of people, but I do think it might be close.

PA is my home state, now I am in VA, near Richmond - another BIG CRIME AREA. I should go where the stress is not so hard on my blood pressure. Some other FReeper on another thread invited me to Texas. LOL. I might consider it.

I am so sick of these big cities being overrun with the "hands-out for govt. assistance," expect entitlements liberals. Maybe I could live in Texas and become a cowboy---er, cowgirl and around more people who want to actually work for a living. LOLOLOL

Yes, it's irresponsible if the media reporting the too-early result is independent.

Now, if the media is part of the government, then they're not being irresponsible - they're just doing their job, suppressing dissent against the government, and influencing popular opinion in favor of the government (propaganda).

I maintain that the Main Stream Media has now become Obama's New Government Media, whether or not obama wins tonight.

They were The Shadow Government Media during Bush's terms in office - always opposing, nay-saying and undermining the actual government.
