The U.N.: Even More Expensive Than It Looks

How much does the United Nations cost? Rich countries, led by the United States, take note: you already pay about three times as much for the U.N. as appears on your own books — about $17.2 billion in 2006, according to figures newly pulled together in a U.N. report. And that number includes a whopping $800 million surplus for the sprawling U.N. system. What the U.N. did with the extra cash isn't covered in the document that for the first time reveals the full extent of U.N. anti-poverty contributions and spending across 37 funds, agencies and programs. But as the U.N. report itself states, the difference between the U.N.'s tallies and those of the 23-member Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which antes up most of the U.N.'s development funds, "present a very different image of the scale of United Nations operational and development activities."

It's Bush's fault again. After making Kofi's son extort Sadam's money, he's at it again!

Just wait till Obama gets done. We'll be getting UN payments deducted right from our paychecks.

Gotta pay for the gold on Obama's future throne in the UN, after all He'll probably be our UN world government overlord once he gets done signing over our sovereignty to them. POTUS is just a stepping stone for the Messiah. The Europeon Overlords are already calling him to get on board and be one of the world government kings, each with their own part of the world to govern.

You would think that as the economy rolls back, personal incomes fall trhoughout the whole US, prudence would have the UN contributions shrinking as well.......

as opposed to expanding the UN!

I have done some work for the UN. Let me tell you these people know how to blow/waste money in every single way you can dream up and their work week does not even resemble anything you would imagine. I know way too many horror tales. And yes, they do in fact discriminate in more ways than you can imagine from age —cut off for working there is 62, gender and Americans and people from Isarel do not fare well in the UN system. Sure, a UN maybe needed but not one that wastes far more money as his highness Emperor Barry spent for his election even when you equalize the comparison. They only want our country for MONEY and that’s it. They think also if we go to the ICC which only beats up on former European colonies that we will go along with the EU’s idea for a world government and pay for their vision on top of the environment. It is one thing for the environment but another for what they do when it comes to wasting money and a world government. The EU and the UN are out of control. If I had the power, I would send GAO from Congress in to do serious audit and hold people and countries feet to the fire for wasting money. I am almost to the point of agreeing with the John Birchers on the UN. If we can’t take care of our own, we can’t help them and why would want too when they are so wasteful. This is the most wasteful and corrupt organization I have ever seen. It would make ACORN look like saints.
