Rooneys hope to finish ownership deal soon (*Steeler owners attempting to outrace Obama's tax plan*)

The brothers want to have a sales agreement and get NFL approval for it by the end of 2008 because of the extra tax consequences they believe will be introduced retroactively to the beginning of 2009 by the new Obama presidential administration and Congress.

"There's a deadline because of this big tax situation," Art Rooney Jr. said. "It has to be settled in good time. I think everybody knows the clock is ticking; it's almost like a football game."

Dan and Art ROoney, the same people who held a last minute rally for Obama at the Civic Arena, now want to outrace the Obama tax man and are attempting to "shirk their financial obligation"?

Here's a link to the article where Rooney washes Obama's b@ll$:  Why Dan Rooney fell for Obama

And here's the money quote: "When I get criticized on the pro-life thing, well, that's a lot more important than someone calling up and saying, 'Look, don't give the jersey away.' I'm a pro-life Catholic. I think abortion is wrong. But I'm not a one-issue voter, and Sen. Obama has pledged to help reduce the number of abortions. I've talked to people in the church about it, and my conscience is clear on this."

The hypocrisy of these fools is maddening. That said, I hope they fail miserably and get taxed out the yahoo. (And I say this with complete allegiance to Steeler Nation)

Well said. The people of Pa. bailed the rooneys out when they wanted a new stadium, and lil dan now wants to avoid paying some back. Pray for karma.

Steelers Owner, Rooney endorsed BO
Eagles Owner, Jeffrey Laurie is a D and invited Biden to the game the other night

Ed Snyder, Owner Sixers/Flyers is a R I believe and invited Palin to the Flyers game

The sale of the Steelers has nothing to do with Obama’s tax plans. You’re confusing Rooney with Wayne Huizenga, owner of the Dolphins, who is accelerating his sale to Steven Ross because he wants to avoid paying Obama’s higher capital gains taxes.

“I hope the steelers never win another game.”

I was born in Pittsburgh. Lived here all my life. After that Rooney-Steelers-Obama thing I have to agree with you. I don’t care if they never win again. I don’t care if they leave.

After Allegheny County went for Obama and neighboring counties went for Murtha, I am ashamed, for the first time in my adult life, ashamed of my home.

How you interpret "conscience" and how it would be "clear" is irrelevant. Someone else will make that distinction for you in the future.

The Dolphins owner (Blockbuster guy, I think his name is Huzenga or something close) is considering the same thing. Sell now so you won’t get taxed as heavily...they must not be patriotic. /sarc

Actually if they keep winning the value of the team goes up. Whoever buys will have to get financing. It may be hard with the markets the way they are. Hopefully the tax increases go into effect and this dumba$# has to pay more in taxes. RAT get’s what he deserves. If not he’ll die and his family will have to pay out the ying yang, unless they’re Kennedy’s and stick it in the Fiji islands.

When I get criticized on the pro-life thing, well, that's a lot more important than someone calling up and saying, 'Look, don't give the jersey away.' I'm a pro-life Catholic.

Seeing as he himself has publicly stated that he voted for Obama, why not ask the local bishop to give him a call and in the meantime, ask that he be refused Communion?

Multiply this times about 100,000 businesses owned by old-timers who just realized that Obama is going to crush them on estate and capital gains taxes. There will be a rush to the exits that will accelerate the downward trends.
