The only vibrant discussion we need is how do we convince the young and educated of the need to rein in government.

The next conservative victory for young hearts and minds will arrive immediately upon the dissolution of the celebrity/entertainment society brought about by the bankruptcy of the Fed, and/or upon institution of Obama's Draft For Change. A nation-wide famine would also do the trick. Anything short of these catastrophies will fail to wake the mentally dead victims of government schooling and philosophy-free culture.

Not sure about your comment, but if you’re inferring Juan started the 11th Commandment breaking - you are 100% correct.

He only resigned?

Whatever happened to Hara-kiri?

Be done with it, Mr. Frum. You classless RINO.

Alas, Frum knows all about “independents” ~ that’s just another name for “Democrat” ~ and DC has quite enough of them at the moment so he’s NEVER going to get to sit there and tell his fellow Democrats what the Republican position “ought to be”.

the problem was that mccain himself wasn’t an intellectual so how could he have picked one? It takes one to know one, right?

Palin was mccain’s choice, not ours, but she was better and stronger than him and that is why conservatives rallied to her defense.

Yes. I'm not frightened for the GOP. I hope they go the way of the Frum, Parker, Buckley, Will...et.al.

Then a whole brand new Conservative Party [RINO-free] emerges that has zero resemblence to the former Republican Party. [TRUE]Conservative refugees, however, will be admitted and given sancturary. Jim DeMint and John Cornyn, Duncan Hunter, Jr. & Sr., Tom Tancredo, Bob Goodlatte and others.

The old guard and losers need not apply.

after 4 years of obama, the democrats will vote for anyone with an (R), even a dog, just to get away from their party’s policies.

I am really and truly frightened by the collapse of support for the Republican Party by the young and the educated

Davie baby, how short sighted of you, tsk, tsk. I believe that this new and virtually untested poseur will trip over his own shoe laces. There will be a long and low groan coming over the fruited plains as the big 'O' fumbles from crisis to crisis. The Republican party will benefit.

With people like him in it, and overwhelmingly in positions of leadership or as “spokespersons”, so am I.

Elitist idiots who are out of touch with the real world will never be able to understand it or how normal people have to survive.

Palin was and is a breath of fresh air and a lot of ordinary conservative folks like us just love here, her hunting, her folksy way of talking and are more than happy when elitists like this guy get his pants caught in his butt.

Buckley ENDORSED OBAMA. That’s not “dissent”.

And I never heard of parker but she wrote of Buckley

“Christopher Buckley, ever the swashbuckling heir to his father’s defiant spirit, walked the plank so that the sinking mother ship might right itself.

No doubt his seafaring father is cheering from heaven: “Ahoy there, Christo! Well done, my son.””

Sounds like a flakey witch to me.

NR is better off without these 3 tools. Give their space to real writers.

RINOs should have stopped the criticsm of Conservatives when their liberal poster-child, John McCain, lost to another liberal

Frum and others were insensitive to the GOP base...the same base that can bring the GOP victories...unlike the “Eastern Liberal Establisment” (a Ronald Reagan coined term)that has led the defeats in 2006 and 2008

You know, the socialists have infiltrated everything else (while our dimwitted complaisant “leaders” allowed them to do so), I wonder how many of these erstwhile “Republicans” who are now either fleeing or destroying from within, were just “agents provacateurs” all along?

And even more important, you should be frightened for America and Americans. And who is taking us down the road of disaster, both parties but the Democrats are leading the way and have been since FDR days. If the GOP remains commmitted to the middle they will continue to be in bankruptcy. And bankruptcy calls for new leadership with a very conservative program. Small government. Balanced budgets. Elimination of many rules, laws and regulations so individuals and businesses are better able to provide the necessary goods and services to people essential to a healthy and vibrant economy. Conservative judges. Tell people the free lunch days are over and time you plan for your retirement, not Uncle. And admit that government, is the cause of most problems and it is also time for us to get our house in order. And that is just a brief intro.

I think we can get some of the youth right where they live.... in their I-Pods, if we can only get more young people like this talented young man involved.....

These people got what they wanted. They wanted McCain, they wanted his moderate positions, they wanted him to reach out to Hispanics— MCCAIN DID EVERYTHING THEY WANTED.
Including the support of Rush Limbaugh. It wasn't enough, it could not possibly have been enough. I even went to the polls here in NYS knowing that my vote was moot - if McCain won NY he would have won so many other places as well that my vote couldn't possibly matter.

I even tried to make myself volunteer to do GOTV phone calling - but push come to shove I just couldn't make myself do it because McCain didn't want my support. All I would have been able to honestly do would have been negative advertising against Obama, and McCain was dead set against negative advertising.

At this point I am put in mind of the Bull Moose party, which outpolled the Republican Party a century ago come next election. If the Republican Party comes up with another candidate who is ashamed of conservatives in the next election, a second party will eat the Republican Party's lunch even if it cannot beat the Democrats. That's not a threat; I certainly couldn't accomplish it myself in any event. But I know - we all suspected this year, but didn't want to believe - that the Republican Party cannot defeat Obama or any other Democrat by nominating candidates who are above telling the truth about an opponent.

And once that has been well and truly proved, there is no going back. Republicans will nominate a conservative the next time they win. Period. My own personal vote will of course mean nothing, as it always has meant nothing in the scheme of things. But the reality I have articulated is just as real as if I did control matters.
