I don’t pontificate to Frum about Canadian politics. Why should I can about his views about American politics?

Isn’t Frum the little squirt that took a nasty potshot at Sarah Palin?

I think McCain is, plainly, an American hero. So I don't want to bash him. But do you remember THIS?

Dear David,

The Republican Party’s future does not involve you and I cangratulate you for realizing it and taking an action that will certainly impact your career.

Those of us who chosse to stay and work with the party are convinced that being educated and erudite does not requie that one become a soft-target-pu$$y.

Good luck as your career drops it’s left wing and begins to spiral.

Sorry about the terse response, but that is EXACTLY what I meant. Juan is/was a Republican basher.

"They wanted McCain, [and Dubya Bush] they wanted his moderate positions, they wanted him to reach out to Hispanics— MCCAIN DID EVERYTHING THEY WANTED.

" And now that we’ve been whooped using THEIR strategy— they jump ship as if it was OUR fault!!! LOL these people..."

Exactamundo.

The RINOs held a mud-pie sale and expected the Big Tent receipts to be overflowing.

MESSAGE FROM LATINOS:

"Screw-the-GOP. We want OURS."

IMO, NWO globalist political calculations pandering to the Invading Hordes failed as the presumed so-called "constituency" of "catholic social conservatives" failed miserably.

And wasn't it Tony Snow who framed the issue and claimed these people would become Republicans??

DUH.

We need Republican leaders and journalists who can seize upon the opportunity Obama’s failures will present to us. We can win people by articulating the advantages and superiority of conservatism. People won’t want Democrat lite when Obama gets through giving them the real deal. They will want a way out.

It is astounding how similar our times are to 1955!

Here's William F. Buckley, Jr. from the first issue of National Review on November 19, 1955:

Let's face it: Unlike Vienna, it seems altogether possible that did NATIONAL REVIEW not exist, no one would have invented it. The launching of a conservative weekly journal of opinion in a country widely assumed to be a bastion of conservatism at first glance looks like a work of supererogation, rather like publishing a royalist weekly within the walls of Buckingham Palace. It is not that, of course; if NATIONAL REVIEW is superfluous, it is so for very different reasons: It stands athwart history, yelling Stop, at a time when no one is inclined to do so, or to have much patience with those who so urge it.

NATIONAL REVIEW is out of place, in the sense that the United Nations and the League of Women Voters and the New York Times and Henry Steele Commager are in place. It is out of place because, in its maturity, literate America rejected conservatism in favor of radical social experimentation. Instead of covetously consolidating its premises, the United States seems tormented by its tradition of fixed postulates having to do with the meaning of existence, with the relationship of the state to the individual, of the individual to his neighbor, so clearly enunciated in the enabling documents of our Republic.

53 years later and we've just surrendered all of the previous gains?!

How does vicious personal attacks become dissent?

Interesting how those who make hateful vicious comments about others get their panties in a twist when they themselves are criticized.

The next conservative victory for young hearts and minds will arrive immediately upon the dissolution of the celebrity/entertainment society brought about by the bankruptcy of the Fed, and/or upon institution of Obama's Draft For Change. A nation-wide famine would also do the trick. Anything short of these catastrophies will fail to wake the mentally dead victims of government schooling and philosophy-free culture.

Or when some Arab/Persian theocracy bends us over and whips us for a year or two with Obambi staring into the headlights counting the days until 1/20/2013 when he can run back to Chicago/Honolulu/Plains Georgia/Kenya.

I am really and truly frightened by the collapse of support for the Republican Party by the young and the educated

Don't worry, when these young kids graduate from college, and can't find any job better than fry guy at Burger King because Obama's taxes and regulations have made America such a business-unfriendly environment that any sensible corporation has packed up and moved to Ireland, they'll wise up and start voting smart, instead of smart-aleck.

Yeah...Frum goes to the leftists who are SO known for their open-mindedness/sarc

How ridiculous! This was not a matter of Frum or the others not being allowed to dissent, however...to do so in a tight election did NOT help the Republican cause. Did ANY of them meet with Palin? talk with her? they certainly could have done so and had they done so, been more respected for their decision. BUT they decided to look at ONE interview, edited at that, by the same press that denigrates ALL Republicans and conservatives.

I would like to know whether or not Frum believes that had Frank Rich or other NY Slimes reporters attacked Biden as incapable or had come out FOR John McCain...do you think the left would have considered such an act with tolerance???
Of course not..he’s an idiot

I had never even heard of Kathleen Parker before she attacked Sarah (tho’ I’m a long time subscriber to NT.) She is now on my lizard list - along with Frum, Chris Buckley, and all the rest who have taken their cheap shots.

If he could have put together a good enough story and articulated in a way that inspired competence then the ticket would have done better.

That's the problem. We don't need anyone to "put together a good enough story", that's what liberals do. We need someone who is grounded in conservative principles and is willing to fight for them. McCain certainly wasn't that person and neither is Froo Froo Frum.
