As long as we can create the right synergies by thinking out of the box and brainstorming some new initiatives to create a new paradigm, then I think this can work.
Let's get some consultants right on it!

Google CEO Eric Schmidt called for an innovation bailout, a bold government-funded effort to create jobs by rebooting America's energy infrastructure, and a reformation that restores trust in government by using technology to increase openness and civic participation. Delusional.
He's right about energy -- which is why Google is setting up installations to suck up our inexpensive PNW hydroelectic power.
He's right about [dis]trust in government.
But his solutions? Delusional.

I like some of his comments, some form of Nationalism.
“It’s important to say that up front. America is a remarkable place.”
“The objective is to win as a country.”
Liberty and freedom will keep us strong. He didn’t rely on gov’t to create and fund Google. He needs to look at that.

How about a basic lesson in economics?
“decarbonization” the US?
Why?
That makes zero economic sense. Where are the economic pros and cons of doing such a thing based on any provable fact?
Just another boondoggle for the selected few on the receiving end of more government mandates/control.

Let’s hate oil, let’s hate oil; it makes us feel so good.
We can burn it clean but we won’t because we’ve got to boggle the doon with ethanol.
We could mine oil but we don’t because the government made a mess of research into while pouring millions and millions into oil shale and Synfuels.
Yeah, let’s have government innovate in energy; they’ve been so good at it. The DOE has just been a terrific success.

"This may be the toughest economic time that most of us will face in our lifetimes," said Schmidt What you mean "us"? It's tough to be a billionaire, eh?
I think we need obscene profits tax for snoopy internet firms.

And what's needed, he believes, is a balance between unfettered capitalism and socialism. Also known as "The Third Way" or "The Third Position." Where, pray tell, have I heard THAT before?

"break down some silos" Sorry, I was too busy kicking in stovepipes to notice all the silos that needed breaking down.
I'll get right on it.
