Challenged ballots: You be the judge by Than Tibbetts, Minnesota Public Radio November 19, 2008 Representatives from the campaigns of Sen. Norm Coleman and Al Franken have been challenging ballots across the state.
It's your turn to play election judge. Tell us how you would rule in the case of these challenged ballots. Use this Minnesota state statute as your guide.
This Beltrami County voter cast their ballot for Al Franken, but also put "Lizard People" as a write-in candidate, not only in the U.S. Senate race, but for several others.
The county auditor/treasurer ruled that the vote should not be counted because it's considered an overvote. Representatives for Franken challenged that decision. (MPR Photo/Tom Robertson)

Well Franken’s a reptile so it makes sense.
Rule #1: WWSD (What Would Soros Do)
I’m gonna say the vote goes to Lizard Person!
The oval by Senate Candidate Lizard People is not darkened, so it is a vote for Franken. Presidential Candidate Lizard People gets the vote assuming they didn’t darken in any other ovals for that race.
My judgment on the matter is that the Lizard People outnumber Al Franken.
IMHO, Minnesota has outdone Florida as far as dumb voters. At least the butterfly ballot could be argued as confusing...these contested ballots are the work of confused voters, the ballots couldn’t be clearer, the voters just didn’t follow instructions.
To me, voter intent is for Lizard People. (it takes a lot of time to put his/hername twice)
Something going on here. In another thread, this same marking was for coleman.
I agree
Why someone would take the time to wait in line to write in Lizard People twice is another question.
And the voter filled in an oval for Lizard Person.
From Wired, more about the “Lizard People”:

See the 9th conspiracy theory on the list.
I shall certainly vote for lizard people in the future. I didn’t realize they were running.
If they are count other marks outside the ovals as voter intent, then I would count this as an overvote.
The bubble by the write-in is not filled in; this ballot is for Frankenstein.
For the other office (President?), the write in IS filled in, so it is either a write-in for Lizzard People, or an overvote, depending on whether other candidates are marked.
And yes, it looks *very* similar to the markings for Coleman we’ve seen parts of.
Is it the Blues, or the Greys that are reptilian in nature
Can they verify the voter has been deemed incompetent by the courts? If not, then the vote goes to Franken, because the lizard people bubble isn’t filled in.
Give that vote to Al, the voter is trying to say Frankin is a lizard person.
