The story is a couple of days old but I did a search and didn't see it posted. In the old days it was Bibles, now it's cell phones.The story makes no sense. If he was hit by a bullet the casing wouldn't be there. It would still be in the gun or on the ground near the shooter. Casings don't travel with the bullet.

I think the problem is the ignorance of the reporter. Of course the bullet hit the phone, not the casing. The reporter probably doesn’t know the difference. I was tempted to edit the story before posting.

I think it was the bullet itself that fell down, but the journalist probably has never even seen a gun so is ignorant on the topic.
However, I must forward this to Mythbusters! They love this kind of stuff. I think they already did a cell phone saves guy from gun shot when they did the deck of cards and bible.
