CNSNEWS.COM: Mr. President, when you first took office you promised to create 2.5 million jobs by January, 2011. But the Labor Department report issued yesterday indicates that in fact 1.7 million jobs were lost during that period. Why did your plan fail?
PRES. BARACK OBAMA: Ah, but it didn't fail. To the contrary, we succeeded beyond all expectations. You misquoted our promise. We said we would create or "save" 2.5 million jobs. And a report prepared by my White House team being distributed to you demonstrates that had we not taken the bold steps we did back in 2009, we would by now have lost 5.4 million jobs. We therefore in fact saved 3.8 million jobs, more than 50% greater than the number of jobs we promised. So our program has been a huge success. Let's see, Keith, you had a question?
KEITH OLBERMANN: Yes, Mr. President. You are so wonderful, sir. Please comment, if you would, sir.
There you have it. The "or save" inserted into the announcement of Obama's jobs plan yesterday makes it virtually fail-proof. No matter how many jobs are lost, Obama will always be able to claim that things would have been much worse were it not for his plan. To his credit, NBC News Political Director Chuck Todd pointed out the verbal sleight of hand on today's Morning Joe.

I believe I read his program calls for public service jobs following Roosevelt’s lead - the WPA?
Infrastructure jobs..laborers not auto makers, paving not bankers, so i guess the illegals will be assured of jobs.
“public service jobs”...hmmm is that going to be the volunteer jobs for Civilian National Service??? Or illegal jobs to prevent illegal aliens from collecting welfare?
The Obama claim of millions of jobs being created, is like Clintons’ claim of 100,000 new Police Officers, remember that lie?
My grandfather who was a prolific general contractor claimed the WPA stood for We Piddle Around.
This is laughable at its core!! How is someone who has NEVER created or saved a single job and has no experience in business going to create any jobs??
So far, he has cost tens of thousands their jobs due to the stock kmarket reaction to his election. The only way he can fix that situation is to resign BEFORE he takes the oath of office.

Todd was actually calling Obama out this morning on using the weasel word “save” jobs.
or “we poke around.”
