I also USED to own a lot of each of their guns... before I SOLD MY ENTIRE COLLECTION last week.
That’s right Mr. Obama and BATFE, I SOLD MY ENTIRE COLLECTION last week...

Both Smith and Wesson Holding Corp. (SWHC) and Strum, Ruger and Co., Inc. (RGR) made deals with the Clinton administration during the Clinton gun ban days. Ban my competitors, but not me and I will cooperate...
Obama is going to try to destroy ALL firearm manufactures. Buy the stock as speculation that they will survive until a Republican takeover...

Why would they have dropped so much, especially since the huge run on guns in the past two months?

I think it's high time we all have a framed stock certificate for these companies hanging on a dining room wall. Don't you? Can you even get stock certificates anymore? I've been strictly book entry since I opened my first account fifteen years ago.
James Lileks has an interesting site of some stock certificates
, but I don't know even if you get a certificate whether it is a fancy engraved version or just a computer printed page with a barcode and the number of shares it represents.

Why should I bother doing anything? The govt. should bail out the gun makers with tax revenues from “the rich.” /s

My gun collection was destroyed in a fire, nothing but rocks and a slingshot for me, and the rifle I’m ordering this week will be ceremonially cut up and shipped to the dump, all in honor of Obambi. But, I like the idea of having stock in Ruger and Smith & Wesson. Can I get it online?

"... S&W is trading around $2.00 a share and Ruger around $5.00. In Aug. '07, S&W hit a high of $22.80. Ruger at the time hit $22.58." You advise to invest in stocks that are worth 10% of their value this time last year?
Smarter investment this time last year would have been aluminum, lead, copper, and brass.
You know: Aluminum machined into AR lowers, and lead/copper/brass formed into ammunition.

Related question(s)...
My husband and I are thinking of buying a firearm for the first time. Recommendations under $500? Handgun vs shotgun or rifle? The initial intent is for home defense (with the paranoia factor of soon not being able to get anything).
Important mention - although we come from an expansive military and hunting family, we have little (him) to no (me) experience with firearms. I’d like one I can learn easily and handle comfortably.
Thanks for the input, all, and for the thread - saves me the vanity post I’d been intending. :)

BAD IDEA. These stocks have been more volatile than a saucepan full of gasoline over an open fire oven range.
Come Jan21st when the assault weapons bill is voted and passed, S&W is going to lose an entire division (M&P) to bans.

I gave all my guns to homeless teenage welfare mothers and starving children. I think they’re using the guns to “spread the wealth around” at this very moment.
