I wonder what kind of operational knowledge would be useful from a country where guns are prohibited and the police won't shoot back. I'd think that if something like that were to happen here (coordinated attacks on downtown urban centers), that the armed populace of the United States wouldn't wait to be told what to do, the armed citizenry would rally like a second amendment militia and respond.

You forgot that this is not the America you read about in books. The first thing we’ll do is appologize to the terrorists, then we put on the kneepads, build a few mosques at our expense and have a trial with a judge who is a member of the ACLU. Muslims are absolutely safe in America, and they know it.

You bet, and being justifiable angry, showing any signs of defense, retaliation or anger, they will be labeled a racist.

In a society gone mad, led and governed by politically correct psychopaths.

Welcome to Free Republic, and where is the link to your YouTube video??

Since this is just another tedious FNG vanity post, maybe you would care to entertain us all with a brief recital of your National Security Credentials that might qualify you to make these kinds of observations, and perhaps give us all a reason to give a damn about what you have to say here...

yah...I’ll hold my breath...

I don’t know. When 9/11 occurred, I thought that would be the turning point for us as a nation. I thought we would have to take a stand, define who we are, and stop promoting this nonjudmental “every viewpoint is equally valid” nonsense. Of course we didn’t and I’m not convinced now that Americans have the ability to recognize when our nation is under attack.

‘If a Mumbai/Bombay happens here, I wouldn’t want to be a Muslim living in America”

Its already happened here but the MSM covers it up. Granted they’ve been much smaller but there have definitely been attacks by Muslims since 9/11.

What a great plan! They just need to be taught to hide better.
...some of us, won't "take it lying down" armed/equipped with (the intelligent use of) pens / votes...(failing that, rifles/pistols/knifes/picthforks/sticks & yes, even bare hands)... w/ my last dying breath.....

Something I have been wondering- I hope those of you that have really been following the issues with India lately will give me your thoughts on this:

India recently took on the pirates and I have read some stuff that claims the pirates are directly connected to terrorists/Al Queda—could these attacks be retaliation for the Indian attacks on the pirates?

Connections I have seen some make between pirates and major terrorist organizations are that the major terrorist organizations are having a hard time with financing due to restrictions/attention paid to organizations that are known to fund them- tighter restrictions on wire transfers and things of that type and that the upswing in pirate activity is it is one new way of financing terrorist activities. If that is true it would seem to follow that India disrupting that would draw the wrath of terrorists.

I know there are a lot of ins and outs to this and it is not as simple as one angle; there could be many reasons for the attacks on India- to cause trouble between India and Pakistan seems to be a favorite explanation. It just seems like a connection to me that one week India is sinking pirate ships and the next week they are under attack.

Unfortunately, we know Obama’s stance: if there is an anti-Muslim reaction to a terrorist attack, he told us he’d stand with the Muslims.

"You are right. I am wondering if the purpose of the attack in Mumbai was to gain operational knowledge of a planned incident to be carried out in the US."

I have been thinking just that since this incident hit the Internet news services.

I have little doubt that the Indian counter terrorism forces have had American training. Perfect training mission for future exercises on American assaults by the nutjobs.

Unfortunately, I have been working a lot lately and have not had time to review the media takes.

Well right now it seems like less than half the people in this country have an iron resolve or know our history if the recent election is any reflection.

As I am out and about talking to people I find even some otherwise very intelligent people are so uninformed about what is going on with major issues like the War on Terror, economic issues, etc- and worse they don’t even seem to care. Most are only worried about their little sphere- work, family, etc. and just seem to expect everything to rock along like it always has.

I feel like I am riding on a train that is headed for a washed out bridge and a man is waving a lantern and screaming WASHED OUT BRIDGE AHEAD and I am the only one that sees or hears him and no one else on the train will listen to me either.

I do know many informed people that are as alarmed about what is going on as I am, but it scares me how many are not.

What will happen? Nothing. Didn’t after 9/11. Why now or in the future? The idiots just elected a Muslim to the White House. Why should they start shooting the place up? They used the system.

imagine what’ll happen if we’re attacked in a mall, hotel, coffee shop or on the street.

Wait, wait, I know, I know the answer!

Absolutely nothing.

You want to bet?

Victor Davis Hanson wrote a very penetrating piece about the Young Jesus. He punches through all the horsesh*t surrounding Obama's personality in this one paragraph after describing what liberals think Obama could be up to. Money graph here:

I've collated the dozens of articles from liberal thinkers that explain why so far Obama—the candidate of hope and change, and cleaning out the entrenched status quo that so warps our D.C. politics and ensures stasis in our policies—has surrounded himself either with Clintonites, outright Bush people or those who worked closely with them, and centrists of ambiguous politics. The explanations are quite creative and run the gamut:

1) Whom else might a Democrat pick, given that the Carterites are now 28 years out of office, and team Clinton the only experienced circle of liberals still around (and given that Democrats have only been in the executive branch for 8 out of the last 28 years)?

2) This is part of Obama's brilliant grand strategy. Just wait and see how Machiavellian it works out: By coopting power-hungry centrist pros to enact HIS "progressive" policies, he can advance a leftist agenda much more effectively and fend off gratuitous attacks from the right-wing attack machine.

3) Review what Obama actually promised and you will learn he actually ran a centrist campaign; the problem is that too many liberals simply projected their own agendas on him, and saw what they wished rather than what was there.

4) These are not centrists at all. Gates was at heart a sort of anti-Bush maverick. Hillary and others are liberals that used to be the bane of right-wingers. The new economic team wants to assume government control of essential industries.

5) This is just a small sampling of appointments; wait until you see the U.N. rep, NEA, NEH, key figures at State and Justice. By picking bumper-sticker centrists at the figuratively top spots, he can appoint real progressives under the radar at the bread and butter posts where real policies happen.

Note that the most obvious and embarrassing explanation is taboo and blasphemous: That Obama is a masterful politician who never has had any real ideology or persona other than his own diversity story and history, youth, and charisma that together allow him to be whatever is politically expedient at the time.

That is, there is a pattern here: public campaign financing, FISA, NAFTA, drilling, nuclear power, coal, guns, capital punishment, abortion, Iran, Iraq, the surge, etc. all were repackaged as the primary and general elections evolved. A community organizing past that once welcomed in a Wright, Pfleger, Ayers, Khalidi, became inoperative lest he meet a McGovern-like fate.

This is very much in the mold of Bill Clinton: whatever expediency works to expand his own power and career is what Obama will pursue. Principle is secondary.

Fearless prediction: Obama will throw the Muzzies under the bus if he has to to survive after a mass-casualty attack. People don't get this yet. The stupid libs think he's principled. People like Oliver Willis, Arianna Huffington, and Andrew Sullivan are in for one hell of a surprise.

Best,

Chris

And the first thing they should have done is to seal our borders, and enact immediate major security measures to all that have legitimate business coming and going.

Bush did just the opposite, and allowed *millions* more total unknowns to enter illegally.

It just seems like a connection to me that one week India is sinking pirate ships and the next week they are under attack.

Which had been six months in the planning.

I don't see any obvious connection to the Indian Navy taking out a pirate ship last week.

The financing angle may be valid, though, nonetheless. It's safe to say that the pirate leaders won't have much use for big bucks in the bright lights of Mogadishu.
