WEST HOLLYWOOD -- Firefighters are trying to determine the cause of a massive fire at a landmark strip club in West Hollywood.
Firefighters were sent to "The Body Shop" strip club at 8250 Sunset Boulevard around 6:45 a.m. Thursday morning.
Flames could be seen shooting through the roof. The fire was mainly confined to the attic, fire inspector Frank Garrido said.
The fire was extinguished within an hour, but the building sustained about 70 percent damage.
Sunset Blvd. was closed in both directions between La Cienega and Crescent Heights.
People in nearby buildings were evacuated, but the fire was contained to the one commercial building. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries.
Arson investigators were called to the scene.
"The Body Shop" claims to be the longest-running strip club in L.A. It was mentioned in the 1980s Motley Crue song "Girls, Girls, Girls."
There are “landmark” strip clubs?
Must have been one hot act.
That’s too bad. I heard their free lunch pizza was tasty.
That’s what I heard.
It’s LA...
I guess the California fire code doesn’t require flame-retardent g-strings.
Well there goes the neighborhood!
When I was a college student at LA Valley College in the sixties, I dated a math major attending UCLA who worked there.
Too much friction on the pole.
I think this is the one that launched Barbara Boxer’s senate career.
Who is the keeper of such records?

I just hate when that happens.
Are they eligible for a Federal bailout? Can’t have all those babes out of work, begging on the streets, now can we?

And just when we thought things couldn’t get worse.....
If they are, they'll get it all in folded one dollar bills.
