Governor has one choice left: Sing?
Chicago Tribune ^ | December 9, 2008 | John Kass

Posted on 12/09/2008 5:39:30 PM PST by george76

Gov. Dead Meat woke early, and even before he could spray on some dry look and meet the day, the boss of the Chicago FBI was on the phone, saying there were federal agents outside waiting to arrest him on corruption charges.

One of those charges was for allegedly trying to sell a seat in the U.S. Senate by the pound, and there were candidates willing to pay the price. His alleged co-schemer was his chief of staff, John Harris, who once worked closely with Chicago Mayor Richard Daley.

"I could tell I woke him up," Chicago FBI chief Rob Grant said of his 6 a.m. phone conversation with "The Unreformer" outside the governor's Northwest Side home. "And the first thing he said was, 'Is this a joke?' "

No, it's no joke.

Blagojevich's buddies—the ones he still has left—surely aren't amused. They must be wondering how long it will take for Blagojevich to crack under the federal weight and start singing about all his friends.

Would Durbin write a letter of clemency for Blagojevich to President-elect Barack Obama? And will Obama finally address, in the most public way, the culture of political sleaze that threatens to drown all of us?

R-E-S-I-G-N! Ironically, Blago was begging President Bush the last few weeks for a pardon for his disgraced and convicted Republican predecessor, George Ryan! What's good enough for Ryan is good enough for Blago. JAIL TIME!

Just wondering if the Chicago Trib might sell more papers if they actually started investigating and reporting political corruption. Just a thought...

How come the Feds have to learn over a wiretap that Blago was trying to shake down The Tribune Company and Children’s Hospital? Don’t they have the duty to come forward and tell the Feds what is going on? Why didn’t the Tribune run it in their newspapers?

Will the Governor be so overcome with remorse, now that he is out on bail, that he will commit suicide by the traditional Southeast Asian method (two .22 slugs to the back of the head). Living in Chicago, he wouldn't have to travel all the way to Fort Marcy Park.

Just curious, that's all.

In the case of the tribune, anyway, they were too busy negotiating.

Interesting, they went BK, and the Gov was arrested, when the negotiations failed, Hmmm?

No mention of any of this, of course, before the election.

Could they have been the ones who tipped off the FBI so there was wiretapping?

I heard today the Chicago Tribune was cooperating with Fitzgerald, at his request, to not release information they had.

Recitar! Mentre preso dal delirio,
non so più quel che dico,
e quel che faccio!
Eppur è d'uopo, sforzati! Bah! sei tu forse un uom? Tu se' Pagliaccio!
Vesti la giubba,
e la faccia in farina.
La gente paga, e rider vuole qua.
E se Arlecchin t'invola Colombina,
ridi, Pagliaccio, e ognun applaudirà!
Tramuta in lazzi lo spasmo ed il pianto;
in una smorfia il singhiozzo il dolor, Ah!
Ridi, Pagliaccio,
sul tuo amore infranto!
Ridi del duol, che t'avvelena il cor!

All of his guns have been taken from him. He may have some extra rope laying around though.
