CHICAGO (AP) A lawyer for U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. says the congressman is the Senate Candidate 5 mentioned in the federal corruption complaint against Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
Attorney James D. Montgomery Sr. said Wednesday that Jackson never had a pay-to-play conversation with Blagojevich.
The governor is accused of trying to profit from his authority to appoint a replacement to fill President-elect Barack Obamas Senate seat.
Montgomery says Jackson never authorized anyone to seek the governors support for anything of value.
And he says Jackson isnt aware of any associates having made such an overture on his behalf.

A member of Jesse Jackson’s family possibly involved in corruption? I simply can’t believe that. Next they’ll be saying that rain is wet.
Yup. Happy happy joy joy w/exclamation marks!
Happy Holidays
Fellow vet.
The conversations were through go-betweens, we all caught that. However, the go-betweens will now be questioned and the next layer will be unwrapped. Eventually there will be a link between the ‘talkers’ and the actual ‘players.’ It’s just a matter of time.

Better yet, they’ll say it’s snowing in Houston. Not a chance...
Nah.....
Omertà
Junior says he was not involved in any effort to buy the senate seat...but his ol man is an expert at shakd downs for getting what he wants. So why not try a shake down for his kid? Me thinks Junior protests too much already.
The whole Chicago political machine is dirty and always has been.
Not Junior or his aides/associates, but likely Senior as he hurriedly hired an attorney regarding this matter.
Jesse twisted arms to get his other sons the exclusive liquor distributorship in Chicago.
I did not know that . I am aware of his shakedown efforts with Toyota and other businesses in favor of blacks.
He must be innocent, he said so!
The sister he mentioned he’d spoken with just happens to be Michelle Obama’s “best friend”. Do you think he was trying to convey a message to BO by mentioning their conversation.
This is pure gold. Merry Christmas.
“Attorney James D. Montgomery Sr. said Wednesday that Jackson never had a pay-to-play conversation with Blagojevich.”
What’ll happen is that Jesse will throw some staff under the bus for this.
What will also happen is that he has no chance to become the next senator.
And we all know who 0 is.
Heck, it’s only a million bucks, maybe a sweet appointment for the wife and me could seal it.....
Is Candidate 5 anything at all like Client 9? For some reason both stories are similar. Perhaps Goldenrod could’ve given Obama’s seat to Spitzer’s former “girlfriend”.
Yep, I’m guessing that JJ Sr. is right in the middle of this — he knows all about wheeling and dealing for favors, when he’s not doing actual shakedowns. He probably figured out pretty quickly that it would be a bidding war, and he started toting up what he and JJ Jr. could “do” for Blago.
My bet is on Jesse Sr. having cold sweats now if he is in Fitz’s sights......
Jesse SENIOR has lawyered up??
Now that really would be interesting.....
I was just guessing that JJ Sr. was involved but I didn’t know that he’s hired a lawyer - is that confirmed?
That would definitely indicate that Sr. is at least involved in some of the discussions..... just knowing what we know of him, I was guessing that he might well have taken the lead in the “negotiations” with Blago......
