Wow! The people who voted on those two ballots were..... not very good at voting. I believe the vote for they’re saying is for Franken really was but that it should be thrown out. The other one, I couldn’t figure out who they wanted in any of the races.

Unbelievable! This is a criminal act in broad daylight.

Is the canvass board loaded with democrats? I really can not believe this is happening without major protest and airplay.

America is doomed and I am starting to shell up against what is to come.

Either you followed the instructions or you didn’t. If the ballot instructions say to fill in the circle completely and the voter places an X....then the ballot is trash, period.

I don’t give a rat’s ass what the voter intended. If the voter intended to vote then the ballot needed to conform to the rules agreed to before the contest began. Period. It’s not real complicated. Read the instructions...follow them to the letter or get tossed.

This applies to every other aspect of life. Do you think that if I don’t follow the directions on Form 1040 that the IRS would haves something to say about that? I can assure you that I would be audited post haste and probably fined.

Why do you think that anyone is breaking the law by trashing non-conforming ballots? There is a responsibility of the voter to make his intentions clear. If they are not clear then the ballot is non-conforming and intent is irrelevant. If the voter wanted to change his mind after marking the ballot, then it was incumbent upon him to return the marked ballot to the elections inspector/poll workers and get another clean ballot after the previously marked ballot was destroyed.

If they did not do this then the voter is an idiot and his vote is not welcome.

It’s really quite simple. You can’t vote for two people. If you vote for two people it is illegal to count the vote for only one. If you were to consider this ballot then you’d have to consider it a vote for both. Since the person casting the ballot is only entitled to one vote you can’t count two. There is no law breaking involved. UNTIL someone other than the voter makes a determination of which person on the ballot will get the vote counted, that IMHO is breaking the law because the person making the determination can’t possibly tell who the vote was meant for. That’s where your “personal whim” comes into play, it is no longer the voter making the decision but the person counting the ballots. And that’s just plain wrong!

I certainly agree with you, there is no reason any ballot, other than absentee, should be voted with errors on it. Absentees are a different thing, but the rules should be the same as for in person voting. If you mark a ballot wrong too bad! If everyone would go to machine ballot reading of absentee, after confirming the legitimacy of the absentee ballot, there would be no problems as the ballots would be counted as either an over vote or an under vote and that would be that. Obviously there is chicanery going on in this election.

The government in this country is the devil. This is what we allowed to happen and now get to turn it over to our kids. Makes me sick.
This country is beyond hope-SCREWED.

Can’t tell for sure, but Coleman’s loss of lead during this morning’s challenge resolutions does not look good.

Because the 20 hours of driving required wouldn't be practical.

I have been trying to follow the newspaper sequence of today’s counting. They are decreasing Coleman’s lead at a rate faster than the number of ballots they report reviewed.

There is some error in what is being reported for ballots reviewed. They have to review about 800 Coleman challenges today and tomorrow. Coleman leads by 204 now, down from 395 at the start of today. It was expected the lead would drop because they are reviewing only Coleman challenges today, but the rate of drop can only be judged as a function of how many ballots have been reviewed (of the 800) and their reporting on this looks wrong.

well the GOP have not looked into all the illegal money obama got.
they never have tried thus far to get these pre paid credit cards banned?
They have not tried to stop ACORN.

So in 4 years time the republicans will face all of this illegal money, and votes again and then wonder why we’re having a hard time winning.

Wouldn’t it be nice if all the republicans had a spine like Sarah and stopped bending over for the liberals and Dems

Personally, I’d throw both ballots out. They were to vote for only one, and they clearly have marks for two on each ballot.

The closest to being “clearly” for someone is the ballot for Coleman, in that the voter used the same “scribble fill-in” for his other votes on this ballot.

On the Franken ballot, the distinction is a thicker crossout on the CP candidate, but other than that the marks do not match the same marks given all over the ballot.

Based on the rules, though, I’d throw out both ballots. I wouldn’t hesitate. That the rules were broken is what is absolutely CLEAR on each ballot.

an easy way to solve most problems here is to disallow absentee voting unless you can prove a valid, legit reason(and make that list a short one) why you can’t manage to find it to the poll every few years. this pre-election voting crap for the appearance of numbers is BS.

As of 1:37 EST, Coleman's lead now down to 167.

Projection is that Franken will win by 225, when all challenges have been decided.

many are too stupid to vote and I swear everyone obama voter I have come across does not know why they voted for him based on policy or experience.
All I get when I ask them is
1. he is a good talked.
2. he wants change.
3.he is black.

I swear to be a Dem you have to be totally dumb and ignorant.

Draconian I know but I wish a law was in place where each person wanting to vote should be asked 5 questions based on policy.
i.e.
1.which candidate wants girls to have an abortion without parents being notified?
2.Which candidate wants illegals to receive free health, education and benefits?
3.which candidate wants to raise tax’s?
4.which candidate wants to pull out of Iraq regardless of how the war is going?
5.Which candidate said he would invade Pakistan?

Now if the voter gets on wrong more than 3 times than they are not allowed to vote.
At least this way the voter knows what they are voting for.

Other measure which the GOP should be going for is , if a person wants to vote then they have to register in person instead of using a group to do it for them.
A want to be voter has to show a picture ID, two other forms of legal documents with their name and address on them i.e. bills. If the county officials suspect the person is not legal then the want to be voter has to show citizenship with no questions asked.
The want to be voter has to be crossed off with the rolls of the DMV.
No more early voting, voting is for one day only if the voter cannot vote that day then an absentee is sent off to them.
Voters who live up north and live in the south during the winter(snowbirds) are checked off with their home state and their vacation state thus stopping voting twice which happens a lot in my state of Florida by the north east snowbirds.

Course the liberals would never want these rules as they would never get into power ever again

It should be tossed....

top of the page

To vote, completely fill in the oval(s) next to your choices like this: and the example of how to fill in the oval.

I don’t care if it is a vote for Coleman, or that the voter’s intent was clear. The voter DID NOT READ THE DAMNED INSTRUCTIONS AND DID NOT FOLLOW THEM....your vote gets tossed because you’re stupid.

Case closed.

it’s time for all conservatives to move out of that state along with all states in the north east and then move into places like VA,NC,FL,MO,NM,AZ,CO

that way no conservative money goes to liberal causes.
makes swing states solidly red.
increase those red states electoral votes and reduces blue states EV’s

the libs have had for years websites etc getting liberals to move into these swing states ,sites like city data are used, liberal magazines.

let them have their liberal elitist Utopia’s and we can have our normal marriage, good teachers, low tax states to live in
