Not true here in Wash state. You are allowed to put a cross thru yout mark and mark another candidate. FWIW.

The people of MN don’t understand much, do they?

Regardless of this seat, that’s a given.

It won’t be enough. “Red” can claim no more than ten electoral votes from “blue”. It would be meaningless. Hardly compensate for CO

I understand when I’m being insulted, if that’s what you mean.

...there most certainly will be a census taken in 2010 which will show great growth in Red states than Blue states and thus will lead to a Congressional District/Electoral vote alignment toward those states. This I suspect, and hope, will result in a restoration of control of the House to GOP hands, and the election of a conservative Republican president in 2012...

Unfortunately, the Republicans are in the process of losing control of state legislatures -- even in so-called red states. And legislatures which are controlled by Democrats can be counted upon to re-district so as to favor a majority Democrat House.

Given an opportunity in 1994, the GOP has truly screwed the pooch, wasting every opportunity they were given because they refused to advance conservatism.

"Let's wait and see what the final count is before we set ourselves on fire, ok?"

Not to mention the fact Coleman's margin keeps growing as the count proceeds - not the sort of thing you'd expect if Franken was manipulating the count...

Ballots such as these should be thrown out without any further consideration. They are overvotes and since they were submitted that way it would be proper to conclude that is exactly what the voter wants. Many times a voter will inadvertently vote for the wrong person, so in order to not give their vote to that person they'll vote for the other person too. If voting absentee their only recourse is to overvote that particular race, or not use their absentee ballot and actually go to the polls and sign an affidavit that they did not use the absentee ballot. It is absolutely ridiculous to count these overvote ballots for any candidate!

Here are some more from today:

(Notice how an “x” was good for Franken before but is bad for Coleman here)

I only made it through sixty and found this many sham decisions - Coleman will lose, write it down now.

I thought the Star Tribune tally was a joke (they’ve called it for Franken based on their “ballot challenge”), but the Canvassing Board is going more for Franken than the Star Tribune tally at this point!

Remember, they are going through mainly Franken challenges at this point so Coleman’s tally should be going up.

if it says vote for ONE, and they PUT MARKS ON TWO, TOO BAD, that office doesn’t count.

“if the republicans put up with this,

then they’re going to be out of power for 30 years”

Ummm...I think you meant to say “nonexistent”. They are long out of power currently.

It’s likely both were votes, one for Franken, and one for Coleman, although you have to look at the rest of the ballot to guess that because of the other votes and marks.

If they had counted both votes, I would be OK with it, but I would have rejected both.

But there’s no way a sane board rejects the Coleman vote and accepts the Franken vote.

But you forget, Franken is behind and needs to expand the vote count to overtake Coleman - reconsidering overvotes is one cog in expanding the vote, adding absentee ballots is another.
