Dick Cheney alone has the authority to determine which records, if any, from his tenure will be handed over to the National Archives when he leaves office, his lawyers say.
That claim is in federal court documents asking that a lawsuit over the records be dismissed. Cheney leaves office Jan. 20, potentially taking with him millions of records that might otherwise become public record....

What I can’t understand is why anybody in this day and age in Dirty City would keep any records at all that are past their expiration date, ie., no longer absolutely necessary.
To: steve-b
When I’m elected President, I’m not keeping any records or sending any emails. My appointment secretary will shred the previous day’s appointment sheet each morning.

He should just store them with the Clinton White House e-mails.
Then the press won't ask for them.

this issue should be settled permanently,
by Congress

Cheney is being sued by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a government watchdog group that is trying to ensure that no presidential records are destroyed or handled in a way that makes them unavailable to the public. And suits for Hobama's birth certificate are dismissed!

Yeah. I was thinking that as the President of the Senate maybe he could demand a gander for the American people at Obama’s vault copy birth certificate.
