Sen. John McCain (?-Ariz.), joining with liberal Armed Services Committee Chairman Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.), issued a report last week on the abuse of terrorist detainees. The report accuses former defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld, former Defense Department General Counsel Jim Haynes, and David Addington, Vice President Cheneys chief of staff, of causing the torture of terrorist detainees. But the report is a clumsy calumny, contradicting the factual conclusions of earlier, far more credible investigations.
Predictably, it was enough for the New York Times to call for the appointment of a prosecutor to consider criminal charges against Rumsfeld and the others.
During the campaign, both Barack Obama and Joe Biden indicated that they would investigate and prosecute offenses by Bush administration officials. Now Levin and McCain have done their best to rekindle the Abu Ghraib fires, and the Times wants Obama to haul Cheney and Rumsfeld into criminal court.

McCain likes to present himself as holier than thou.
To me, he’s nothing more than a bs artist.
Screw McCain, what a jerk.
> Screw McCain, what a jerk.
Gotta wonder if he lost on purpose.
Boy, is America lucky we didn’t elect the horse-whisperer president.
RINO-1
BUSH MUST preemptively pardon everyone in his administrations war effort, including all soldiers to stop this travesty. With Friends like McLame, who needs enemies??????????????????????
So now we learn that McCain is not only dumb and devoid of any guiding priciple other than what’s in it for me and how can I damage people I don’t like), he is also downright dishonest.
I think he may be senile. Would never say it during the election but now, well, he is a tool for liberals. He needs to be retired. Good luck Arizona!
Every time he pops up I find myself even more thankful that he did not win.
A few weeks back Bill Bennett was on T.V. and, when asked about McCain, said “great man, poor candidate.” I think that is true. Also, ‘great man, poor republican,’ and ‘great man, poor conservative.’
Someone posted an article about how true a friend McCain had been to Mo Udall, visiting him regularly on his sick bed. It was touching. McCain explained that Mo welcomed John when McCain first came to the Senate. That meant a lot to him, as John had been snubbed by Goldwater.
Goldwater snubbing McCain should have been our first clue.
“Goldwater snubbing McCain should have been our first clue.”
LOL. Goldwater could call it as he saw it.
There has been too many years of treachery for him to be senile.
His befriending Kerry given what he had done upon return from VN. The horrific charges against our troops that caused such anguish for the POWs. Those are things that I have never forgiven.

Oh, by the way, just 17 of 25 Committee members showed up to vote to release this report.
It’s release by the Committee Chairman, DEMOCRAT Senator Carl Levin was approved after an unrecorded VOICE only vote to pass it.
In other words, out of 25 members, only 17 showed up to vote for it, and we will never know what the vote was to release it since the Chairman requested a voice unrecorded Committee vote.

McCain goes along with many progressively-minded groupthinks which we imagine he should instinctively resist. I don't see it as inherently a party politics thing. On this issue, I guess it depends on whether you see the core of the issue as the US leading the way to stop torture, or as the Left demonizing the President, his party, his war, and criminalizing the moves in the WOT that they don't like.
It’s an excellent article with a lot of content. Thanks for posting.
When it comes to periodicals, Human Events defines conservatism for me. Rush Limbaugh also leads the conservative movement. National Review, Investor’s Business Daily, the Wall Street Journal, and editorials in the Waterbury Republican also deserve honorable mention.
