RAWFORD, Texas (AFP) – Saudi King Abdullah told US President George W. Bush by telephone on Saturday that major countries must take action to halt Israel's attacks on Gaza, the Saudi state news agency SPA reported.
White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe had said earlier that the king had called Bush, who was preparing to usher in 2009 on his Texas ranch, to discuss "the Middle East" and had declined to offer further details.

I get why Arabs hate Israel. I get why Obama hates Israel. I get why the World’s poor, who are most susceptible to anti-Israeli propaganda hate Israel. But why does the liberal “intellectual” elite hate Israel?

No. Major nations must find a place to put arabs who can’t live in peace alongside the Mediterranean Sea. They’ve been given a nice piece of seacoast to live on, and all they can do with it is launch rockets. That shows an astonishing lack of imagination. Anyone else would be building bed-and-breakfasts like no tomorrow, or fish canneries, or casinos, or seaside resorts.
Not these people. They train their kids to be human bombs, and they use their land for rocket launchers.
So the Saudis, if they care about these people at all, should consider moving them to some spot out in the middle of the desert where they can do no harm. The Saudis have a lot of space, and a lot of work. Why don’t they take them?
In the meantime, Israel should begin moving the border forward half a kilometer at a time. The arabs can stop shooting or find themselves standing on the Egyptian side of the border.
