Catholic and Islamic Leaders Condemn Gaza Bombings (al-Sistani)
Digital Journal ^ | December 29, 2008

Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali al-Sistani, Iraq’s most prominent religious leader, underlined that mere denunication of Israel’s actions was not enough. He said, "Expressing condemnation and denunciation for what is going on against our brothers in Gaza and expressing solidarity with them by words only doesn't mean anything in the face of the big tragedy they are facing” He went on to say: "Now more than at any other time, both Arab and Islamic nations are required to take a practical stance for the sake of stopping this repeated aggression and to break the unfair besieging of these brave people.”

Well then Mr. Sistani, why don’t you go fight against the Israelis?

I nursed the thought at one time that Iraq would somehow be different that the other Muslim countries. Now I hope they’ll be like the ones who aren’t trying to set off nukes in American cities.

If you take away the guns from the Palestinians, you'll have peace. If you take away the guns from the Israelis, there will be no more Jews in the Middle East.

BS title? What do you mean? The title is exactly from the source, with a parenthetical statement (as allowed here).

The Vatican, through its spokesman Federico Lombardo, reported over the radio that Israel and Palestine should find a peaceful solution to their conflict

I totally agree. And a peaceful solution—the only possible one—is to drive Hamas and all its agents and sympathizers into the sea. Peace will reign.

Pardon-Was not directed at you and your posting of this. I meant the article’s headline writer is trying to infer that both criticisms are the same. Many here may just read the title and think the Church is saying the same thing as Sistani in condemning Israel.

That would probably be most of the world’s population. Never underestimate the scope of evil and ignorance.

Obviously, for the Catholic Church, the continued existence of the state of Israel (over and against a terror organization dedicated to eliminate the state of Israel) — is something that their theology won’t handle.

The coming of the Messiah of Israel to set up a world-wide Kingdom, with Him ruling and reigning from Jerusalem on the Throne of David, for the Millennial reign — doesn’t help the Catholic Church’s theology at all... LOL...

Hence, they will do whatever they can to reduce and eliminate the nation of Israel, in favor of having a “so-called” Palestinian state rule over everyone there (and of course, end up killing all the Jews...).

Here we go again. Israel doesn't have a right to defend themselves?

And this Kumbaya attitude of some of the Catholics makes me question their understanding of God's word.

Israel has a right to defend themselves and if the nay-saying, hypocritical schmucks don't like it then they can be human shields to protect Hamas. Yeup, I'm peeved at this type of whining.

You're doubtless right. All the more reason to start small, right now—"pour encourager les autres."

Candidate for “Worlds Most Dishonest Headline”. The headline writer should be flogged.
