The Wall Street Journal is publishing propaganda written by an enemy of the USA. With too many business alliances and trading partners being what they are, I’m not surprised.

George Bisharat is a propagandist and apologist for crimes perpetrated by Muslims, whether they are Arab or Iranian or of any other origin. For another taste of his venom, see this LA Times opinion article...

Idiots! War crimes are what the winners charge the losers with. It is not some term to be thrown around like it really had a moralistic meaning.

The Geneva Conventions are a farce that limit the actions of the aggrieved nation and lend protection to the aggressor.

We won WWII because we went to a TOTAL WAR of annihilation of our enemies. We were quite prepared to destroy the German and Japanese nations, cultures, and existence. They realized this and surrendered.

If you are not prepared to do this you have just decided to fight a war by rules laid down by your enemy. That is a recipe for losing a war as we did in Vietnam.

Civilians are part of the War Machine of your enemy. They harbor your enemy, they feed your enemy, they manufacture the weapons of war for your enemy. Total war is when one targets each and every part of society that supports your enemy.

If you are not willing to commit to TOTAL WAR, one would be advised not to go to war. You will probably lose. If your enemy knows you are prepared to go to TOTAL WAR, unless he is stronger than you, he will leave you in peace.

Consider: if a national combatant does not wear a uniform it is a crime under the laws of war. If they deliberately target civilians it is a war crime. If they place weapons caches in hospitals and places of worship, it is a war crime. Do we ever hear about those?

Moreover, If the UN agrees to disarm Hez b'allah as a condition of a cease fire and is seen abetting re-armament instead and people die as a consequence, then the UN is guilty of war crimes. Do we ever hear about that?

Until we do, fuggetaboutit.

Yep, right on for barf alert.

I can’t think of anything more racist and facist than Hamas wishing to destroy Israel just because it exists and using that to justify lobbing rockets and mortars into suburban neighborhoods.

I simply detest the U.N. because it is an unaccountable body that has done nothing but enable the perpetuation of violence by screaming cease fire every time Israel gets completely fed up and starts to address the problem head on.

Nothing else has worked because nothing will work until Gaza is governed by those who truly want peace, not those whose only goal is to keep poking Israel in the rear until it turns around to bite them, killing as many jews as they can in the process.

To me, citing the UN Charter as a source of legitimacy or giving the UN any legitimacy of its own is suicidal, as the UN is incapable of policing itself, global governance being inherently unaccountable.

“Mr. Bisharat is a professor at Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco.”

I would give the Clown university in Sarasota, Florida more respect than this supposed academic bastion Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco.

I agree with you.

I have never heard of Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco before.

If this guy is an example of their teaching staff I would not recommend the school to anyone.

“Rather, it involves serious violations of international law, including war crimes. “

Hamas is a terrorist organization. They fight without wearing the uniform of a country. Under the Geneva Convention, they can be captured, tortured and executed. They hide in schools and hospitals, making those facilities legitimate targets.

They cannot have it both ways.

Hitler and the Nazis won elections; so did Mussolini and the Fascists.

My point wasn't that a Hamas victory was a good thing. The author somehow thinks Israel loses its right to self defense because Hamas isn't a state like entity. My point is that Hamas won a democratic election so the Palestinians have chosen to follow Hamas into hell.

If one looks at the peace process, since Israel gave the Palestinians limited autonomy, it has been a path of bloodshed. Israel pursued peace at the cost of its own security, but there is no viable way to turn back the clock. The best way out for the Israelis is to prepare for war and force the Palestinians' hand.

My point was that the manner of winning an election by Nazi, fascist, Islamo-fascist elements may not accord with our concepts of what an election should be.
