Having “laws” and “rules” for war is something only dumbasses do. Anyone who has ever been to war knows how ugly it can get. “Laws” and “rules” do absolutely nothing to take away the ugliness. THEY ONLY PROLONG THE Fn WAR!!!

The United Nations charter preserved the customary right of a state to retaliate against an "armed attack" from another state. The right has evolved to cover nonstate actors operating beyond the borders of the state claiming self-defense, and arguably would apply to Hamas.

News flash, Hamas won democratic elections, validated by Saint Jimmah. They are as close as the Gaza gets to a government.

I have thought for years that Israel should unilaterally recognize the Palestinian Authority as its own state, give them 30 days to cease hostility, then declare war.

Hamas is building an ever-more-powerful offensive arsenal on Israel’s doorstep, and will continue to do so until eradicated.

This must end one way: reoccupation and complete disarmament of Gaza.

Israel had not suffered an "armed attack" immediately prior to its bombardment of the Gaza Strip. Since firing the first Kassam rocket into Israel in 2002, Hamas and other Palestinian groups have loosed thousands of rockets and mortar shells into Israel,

Come again?

This guy probably thinks Pearl Harbor was a border skirmish.

Idiots! War crimes are what the winners charge the losers with. It is not some term to be thrown around like it really had a moralistic meaning.

The Wall Street Journal is publishing propaganda written by an enemy of the USA. With too many business alliances and trading partners being what they are, I’m not surprised.

George Bisharat is a propagandist and apologist for crimes perpetrated by Muslims, whether they are Arab or Iranian or of any other origin. For another taste of his venom, see this LA Times opinion article...

Consider: if a national combatant does not wear a uniform it is a crime under the laws of war. If they deliberately target civilians it is a war crime. If they place weapons caches in hospitals and places of worship, it is a war crime. Do we ever hear about those?

Moreover, If the UN agrees to disarm Hez b'allah as a condition of a cease fire and is seen abetting re-armament instead and people die as a consequence, then the UN is guilty of war crimes. Do we ever hear about that?

Until we do, fuggetaboutit.

Yep, right on for barf alert.

I can’t think of anything more racist and facist than Hamas wishing to destroy Israel just because it exists and using that to justify lobbing rockets and mortars into suburban neighborhoods.

I simply detest the U.N. because it is an unaccountable body that has done nothing but enable the perpetuation of violence by screaming cease fire every time Israel gets completely fed up and starts to address the problem head on.

Nothing else has worked because nothing will work until Gaza is governed by those who truly want peace, not those whose only goal is to keep poking Israel in the rear until it turns around to bite them, killing as many jews as they can in the process.
