There is no comparable revulsion on the Palestinian side. Quite the opposite. In a moral world, Israel's war in Gaza would receive understanding and support. In the world we live in it only earns censure and condemnation. The world would allow Jews to be massacred than permit them to defend themselves, which is precisely why Israel has elected to forego world sympathy so Jews can have the same right that every other people on the planet has without question: the right to live in tranquility, security and peace. That objective alone makes Operation Cast Lead both in fact and in law a just war.

Doesn’t anybody read Machiavelli anymore? The morality that works for individuals is toxic to states. Weeping for your enemy, loving those who persecute you, these behaviors often lead to annihilation in individuals, but that’s between the individual and his God. When practiced by governments, these behaviors lead to the defeat of the state.
Look at the territory Islam covers. Why? Because their religion exalts conquest and the slaughter of the opposition.
