McCain lost because, as Rush puts it, he ran as a Democrat and repeatedly stabbed his actual party's largely conservative base in the face one too many times.
Much of the reason why I stayed home on election day. Just hearing about Mccain/Palin makes me sick. Mccain limp, and Palin on SNL every week, Ill never understand that.

And .. both McCain and his staff were convinced THEY DID NOT NEED THE BASE TO GET ELECTED. Even after there was such an outpouring for Palin .. THEY STILL DIDN’T GET IT .. Moderates never do. They think we’re the problem .. when the problem is actually the moderates.
