I believe it was Ann Coulter who pointed out that the only Republican in a close, major election in modern history to survive a recount was Bush 2000, and that was only because the U.S. Supreme Court stepped in and stopped the FL Supreme Court from stealing the election for Gore (I'm guessing the SCOTUS wouldn't bother with a senate election).

That having been said, what gives me a wee bit of optimism is that the courts and Senate haven't already ordered Franken seated.

Maybe there's more to this than is being made public.
