Sioux City Pro-Life Activist Survived Abortion Attempt

About 500 people Sunday heard a series of speakers, including one who survived an abortion procedure, say it is time anti-abortion Siouxlanders took firmer actions to change the societal tide of acceptance for abortion.

Held to coincide with the January 1973 Roe V. Wade Supreme Court decision affirming a woman's right to seek an abortion, speakers at the Siouxland Pro-Life Interfaith Prayer Service at Central Baptist Church said more than 50 million people have been lost through the choice of abortion. A series of people, from age 36 on down to a 1-year-old carried by a woman, moved to the front carrying a rose to give representation to the 36 years of legalized abortion.

Melissa Ohden of Sioux City went public with her journey through what she called shame, guilt, embarrassment and anger of having been aborted, yet surviving at about 23 weeks of gestation while weighing two pounds.

Ohden frequently cried as she worked through her story, including giving gratitude that her adoptive parents made the choice to raise a baby predicted to have many health problems after living through a saline abortion procedure at a Sioux City hospital in 1977.

"I stand before you today with no ill effects from the abortion attempt," she said.

Ohden described writing a letter to her birth father, who never responded before dying last year while living in Sioux City. She does not know the location of her birth mother, but said parents who abort a child live with a huge amount of guilt.

“I stand before you today with no ill effects from the abortion attempt,”

New procedures, established during the reign of O, will make certain that such slip-ups will not occur. Providing survuvors for future generations. /sarc

Thanks! I have not heard of her, and am not far from Sioux City. I am going to cut and paste it and ask a few people in Sioux Falls, here, if they have met her. I am wondering if they might have her speaking at the Prayer Night and Prayer Walk here on Jan 29.

If you need any more proof abortion is inexcusable, talk to an adult abortion survivor.

If I was an abortion survivor, I don’t know how I could survive abortion supporters believing I should be dead.
