Couric Sugar-Coats It For Obama
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

“So, can you see Wisconsin from your Chicago mansion that Tony Rezko helped you buy?”

OK, that was not Katie Couric’s opening question to Pres.-elect Obama in an interview aired in part on this morning’s Early Show. How soft was the Evening News anchor? Downy soft doesn’t begin to describe it. Twice Couric went so far as to help the president-elect answer her own questions. Now that’s the kind of interview a president could get to like! Here was Katie’s actual opening salvo.

KATIE COURIC: Are you starting to realize the enormity of your new job?

Hard-hitting stuff! And the questioning didn’t get any tougher . . .

“...the Nazis were determined to seize power, while their opponents were demoralized by their previous failures and, with no experience of a totalitarian regime, gravely underestimated the Nazis’ potential. Finally, most Germans were desperate for a saviour and prepared to put up with rules being bent in the process of their salvation...”

And the comedians can find nothing funny to say? They should be poking fun at all the soft treatment he receives.

I think the standard opening line for any conservative guest/commentator who manages to get on any show with these morons should be “First, take of the knee-pads, then we’ll talk.”

So...I’ve got this fantasy playing out...The Chief Justice, John Roberts, faces the Anointed One in preparation to administer the Oath of Office. And then, suddenly, he goes into his best Dana Carvey voice and says, “No...Not gonna do it... First, show us your Birth Certificate.”

The stuff of which dreams are made...

LOL. Even if he did, I don’t think Katie would bother to cover it on the Evening News tonight ;-)

How soft was the Evening News anchor?

Speaking of soft, did anyone notice Katieboo's appearance during the CBS AFC Championship broadcast?

As soon as the camera switched from a wide shot of her and the studio host to a close up of Katieboo, I had to rub my eyes. I haven't seen such a soft camera focus on a woman since the days of Miss Barbara Stanwyck on The Big Valley. Apparently Katieboo feels reason to be paranoid with the number of people watching in HDTV.

I don't watch any of the networks' evening news drivel. Do they go soft focus on her on the evening news?

KATIE COURIC: Are you starting to realize the enormity of your new job?

You are responsible for people in all 57 states, for people of different religions some who share your Muslim faith and some your christian faith? Besides if you go -- Biden ... well let's not talk about that!
